One Piece Season 2 Behind-the-Scenes Trailer Is Mysterious, But Still Looks Awesome

Production on Season 2 of Netflix’s live-action One piece is well underway, but likely still a ways off. Despite that fact, the streaming service did have a few details to share about the new season during its Geeked Week presentation, including a behind-the-scenes teaser it released on Wednesday.

The teaser is hosted by Jeff Ward, who plays fan-favorite villain Buggy the Clown in the show’s first season, and he takes us through some of the show’s key production departments. He starts off by talking to costume designer Kerry Barnard in her massive warehouse of costumes — which she says contains costumes for over a thousand people. Showrunner Matt Owens is also on hand to provide costume commentary, talking about how the show will feature iconic costumes from the manga while also giving characters a few additional looks that are in keeping with the spirit, but perhaps not straight from the pages.

Ward also speaks with Egbert Kruger, the series’ props master, as well as production designers Tom Hannam and Max Gottlieb, who show off some of the series’ fantastic sets, including Ipponmatsu’s gun shop, which fans of the manga and anime will surely recognize.

While the video certainly contains a few Easter eggs for the new season, it’s also filled with very careful blurring to ensure that not too many details escape before they should. Most notably, when Ward says what year we can expect Season 2, he beeps and a black bar covers his mouth, hiding the long-awaited release date from us. That said, it’s likely that live-action One piece season 2 will be released sometime in 2025.
