One person has been killed and four more were injured after a gunman opened fire in Denver, Colorado on Tuesday afternoon.

The shooting occurred at 1400 block of Verbena Street and the Colfax neighborhood, police said in a 2:19pm tweet.

Police previously said there were six victims, but the number has since been upgraded to five.

One person was pronounced dead at the scene. Four other victims were taken to a local hospital. Three of them were in critical condition.

Police have not arrested the suspect, but believe a dark SUV parked nearby is linked to the gunman.

The Denver Police Department is asking anyone with information to call them at 720-913-7867.
