One Nation ditches candidate after her colourful history emerges – but it’s not her nude modelling shots that have got her in trouble
One Nation has stripped one of its candidates of support two weeks before the Queensland election after details of her colorful past resurfaced.
Jasmine Harte was dumped as the candidate for Chatsworth in Brisbane’s south-east after it emerged she had been charged with attempted murder in 2011. The charges were later dropped.
Nude photos from Ms Harte’s glamor modeling past have also resurfaced, although she said she told the party about her past before being selected to run.
She was charged thirteen years ago with attempted murder and acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm following a drive-by shooting in which a man was shot in the stomach.
Ms. Harte was accused of arranging to meet the man and have her boyfriend shoot him over an alleged $1,000 drug debt. All charges were subsequently dropped.
One Nation slammed her for “her past”, which Ms Harte said was a reference to the allegations, along with the nude photos of her online.
Mrs. Harte told the Courier mail she blamed “dirty politics” for unearthing the old charges against her.
She said the lawsuit was “something I was stuck in and had nothing to do with it, and I unfortunately got dragged into it.”

Ms Harte said it had ruined her life at the time because she was innocent, and now it had ruined her chances in politics.
‘I have no grudge against One Nation, it is the dirty politics of other parties digging up dirt… that has brought charges against me.’
She said she was “not ashamed” of her past. “So what I have a history, I’ve made mistakes and I’m willing to stand up now and make a change.”
In a statement, One Nation said it “stands by its extensive vetting process” of candidates.
“Ms Harte has been candid with us about her past and understands the reasons why she is not being supported,” the party’s campaign director Damian Huxham said.
He said all One Nation candidates are expected to meet high standards and also expect “high standards from the staff responsible for implementing our recruitment and vetting procedures”.
In the 2020 Queensland election, the LNP’s Steve Minnikin defeated Labour’s Lisa O’Donnell in a close race.

Then One Nation candidate Aaron Clarke received just 965 votes out of a turnout of 32,370.
Ms Harte has not ruled out standing as an independent candidate in future elections.
“People might have more faith in someone like me to keep the politicians honest,” she said.
“I’m going to wait and see how it all goes, stay out of the spotlight for a while.”
Although Ms Harte’s name and photo have been removed from One Nation’s Queensland election candidates’ website, it is believed she will still appear on the ballot paper as it was too late to remove her.
Daily Mail Australia has contacted One Nation for further comment.
