One-month-old baby found abandoned in car seat on Colorado highway

A one-month-old baby was found by officials in a car seat on a Colorado highway.

Adams County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to 911 calls about a young boy found near a median at 7490 Pecos St.

The child was wearing only a diaper and in a car seat.

Police launched a search for the youngster’s parents and posted an appeal on social media urging anyone with information to alert authorities.

Investigators also searched the area for CCTV footage and people who may have been in the area when the baby was abandoned.

The online posts did not include photos of the baby, but did share the specific carrier.

At 4:30 p.m., officials provided an update indicating they had been in contact with the child’s relatives.

He is believed to be mixed race or Hispanic and was taken to hospital as a precaution.

The investigation remains ongoing and authorities are considering whether pursuing criminal charges would be “appropriate.”

In a long X afterthe Sheriff’s Office shared a series of photos of the car seat the child was found in.

“Detectives are seeking the community’s assistance in identifying and locating the family of an approximately one-month-old baby boy who was found abandoned in the median of Pecos St., approximately 7490 Pecos St., wearing only a diaper and in a car seat/carrier . .

“We hope someone recognizes the car seat or knows something about the baby or the family so he can be reunited with his loved ones and the person who abandoned him can be brought to justice,” police wrote.

Interestingly, a label in the car seat also read: ‘Display only: not intended for sale’.

It remains unclear whether the baby is healthy and why he was abandoned.

The Sheriff’s Office has asked anyone with information to contact the non-emergency number at 303-288-1535.

This comes two months after a baby girl tragically died after being found abandoned in the middle of a busy road near the Galveston Seawall in Texas.

The deceased child was initially found alive in the middle of a busy road around 9:45 a.m. on 59th Street in Galveston, between a convenience store and the Beachfront Palms Hotel.

Galveston Police immediately responded to the scene and alerted fire and emergency medical personnel who were en route.

GPD Chief Doug Balli said the child was rushed to the emergency center at UTMB Health’s John Sealy Hospital.

However, only a short time after her arrival, the unidentified girl was pronounced dead. Click2Houston reports.
