One man is dead and two more without life jackets are missing after high speed motorboat crash into a break wall in the mouth of the Connecticut River

One man has been found dead and two others without life jackets are still missing after a high-speed boating accident on the Connecticut River.

The men, aged between 20 and 30, were aboard the motorboat with six other people when it struck an east pier near Harbor One Marine in Old Saybrook, Connecticut.

The high-speed collision broke the boat into pieces, throwing all passengers into the water, said Joey Kellems of the U.S. Coast Guard’s Long Island Sound sector.

He told CNN that six people were rescued, while the three men, who were not wearing life jackets, were still missing as the Coast Guard searched the waters around the crash site Monday evening.

According to DEEP, one of the men has since been found dead during the search.

Coastguard search and rescue teams arrived on the scene with air and water support. Other aid organizations also joined the search.

It has been determined that there were many casualties in the crash and dive teams are on site to find the missing men.

The Coast Guard has not yet released details of how the boat crashed, but said it received a report of the incident at 9 p.m.

Old Saybrook is a coastal town approximately 30 miles from New Haven, Connecticut.

The investigation into the boat crash is still ongoing.
