According to a statement from the Baptist Medical Center, no staff members or other patients were involved or injured
“We are shocked by the domestic shooting that took place overnight at our hospital involving a patient and his partner in the early 1990s,” the statement said.
“None of our staff or other patients were involved or injured, and we have implemented our safety protocols as a precaution,” the report continued.
The Baptist Medical Center said it will now focus on supporting its staff and providing resources for them.
“Our priorities now are the mental and emotional health and well-being of our staff and providing resources to help them cope with this trauma,” it said.
“While patients and visitors will experience an increased safety presence in the coming days, our hospital will remain open and our staff will continue to provide care to our community.”
“We are praying for the surviving family and our staff, and we ask that you direct any questions you may have about this tragedy to the police.”
