Omar and Oz break records on The Block and take home a whopping $1.6 million in profit
Omar Slaimankhel & Ozman ‘Oz’ Abu Malik broke records on The Block: Tree Change for 2022 on Sunday night.
The Sydney-based best friends sold their home for $5,666,666 with a reserve price of $4.08 million – taking home a record $1.6 million in profit.
Serial bidder Danny Wallis bought Omar and Oz’s house and made best friends from The Block’s most successful pairing in the show’s history.

The previous record was set by Deanne and Darren Jolly, who made $825,000 in 2015.
From the beginning, Oz and I said this house will be for the buyers, so if we put our heart and soul into it and make it right for them, they’ll love it,” Omar said.
“We feel like we’ve built a great house. We wouldn’t change it for anything.’

He added: “I didn’t think we were going to make it that good, but in saying that I knew we would do our best and whatever came out of it, we would be happy. It’s just great that we’ve done so well.’
But it was heartbreak for fellow Blockheads Tom and Sarah-Jane who earned the lowest profit on the show since 2014.
They chose to come in second in the auction order, but their home only sold for $4,100,000.99.

That was just $20,000.99 above their $4.08 million reserve price.
“It wasn’t in our future,” Sarah-Jane cried when the couple got their result, adding that the couple had suffered a “huge loss” for taking time off from work.
“Ultimate high with the boys and now ultimate low. I didn’t expect to make a lot of money, but I also didn’t expect to end up with a huge loss,” said Sarah-Jane.

“It’s the way the cookie crumbles. I can not change it. Just get on with it.’
Host Scott Cam tried to comfort the obviously upset couple.
“I just feel crushed without you… You didn’t deserve that. We deserved much more. I don’t know what’s going on,” he said.
