Olympics fans react to Team USA’s show-stopping Olympic closing ceremony – and warn the world ‘better be ready for cowboys, guns, Budweisers’ for LA 2028
Fans are eagerly awaiting the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles after a spectacular closing ceremony left patriotic viewers eagerly anticipating what the next Summer Games have to offer.
Hollywood legend Tom Cruise kicked off the transfer from Paris to Los Angeles by jumping off the roof of the Stade de France. This was a life-threatening stunt.
Across the Atlantic, LA showed off its star status with live performances from California’s Red Hot Chili Peppers, Billie Eilish and Snoop Dogg on sunny Venice Beach.
Fans were impressed by the extravagant performance and felt that the City of Angels was ready to take on the challenge of hosting the games, and social media users were eager to see what America had to offer.
“I can’t wait to see what the opening/closing ceremonies in the US will be like. Absolutely no avant-garde stuff. The world needs to be ready for cowboys, guns, Budweisers and lots of stars & stripes,” someone wrote on X.

“They said America has no culture and then we drove to the closing ceremony with hip hop, V8 power, big b****s and guitars. Umm, HELLO,” said another.
Cruise jumped off the roof as R’n’B star HER sang the national anthem, accompanied by her electric guitar.
‘America is SO America. Tom Cruise really had to jump off the roof of a stadium to electric guitar riffs for the Olympic closing ceremony,’ one user added.
“That Tom Cruise Olympic flag sequence was exactly what America needed. We needed to let the world know how stuck up, arrogant and annoying we’re going to be in 4 years,” said another.
Once Cruise was safely back on the ground, he was presented with the Olympic flag with five rings by gymnast Simone Biles and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, which was placed on the back of a waiting motorcycle.
Dressed in his trademark leather jacket, the action hero rode out of the arena surrounded by cheering athletes.
The actor’s stunt came after a crazy series of performances at the opening ceremony, which included a composer playing a piano floating in the air, a “golden traveller” accompanied by dozens of dancers and acclaimed French musicians.
After being passed to several American Olympians, the Olympic flag arrived on Venice Beach, where the Red Hot Chili Peppers performed their hit Can’t Stop.
The band then turned the stage over to Eilish, who delivered a stunning version of her new song Birds of a Feather.
Snoop Dogg, who appeared at several events during the Paris Olympics, strolled down to the beach to perform his classic song Drop It Like It’s Hot before taking the stage with fellow LA rapper Dr. Dre.
“The closing ceremony went from a man dangling a piano to ‘f**k yeah America,'” one user wrote in response.
Many fans said they were moved by the sportsmanship Team USA showed, and it was a warning to the world of what was to come if the games were played on their home field.
“The camaraderie between Team USA athletes was beautiful to witness during the closing ceremonies,” one wrote. “The world is going to find America insufferable at #LA28 and I’m ready for it.”
