Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty heaps praise on ‘brilliant’ girlfriend Holly Ramsay as he reveals daughter of the TV chef is always cooking for Team GB

Adam Peaty was very enthusiastic about his girlfriend Holly Ramsay for the support she gave him during his participation in the Olympic Games in Paris.

The 29-year-old swimmer spoke about how incredibly supportive his girlfriend has always been, claiming that it’s the ‘people behind the athletes’ that make it all possible.

Holly, the daughter of TV chef Gordon Ramsay, has also reportedly been helping Adam with her cooking skills in the run-up to his Olympic bid.

Adam told Mark Wright on Heart FM that Holly prepares his meals ‘every day’ and he also feeds the other members of Team GB.

Mark asked him, ‘Your girlfriend is Holly Ramsay, daughter of Gordon Ramsay. How often does she cook your meals?’

Adam replied: ‘Every day. I’ve learned, I’ve actually lost the will to cook, but I’ve learned the skill to cook now. Yeah, she’s absolutely brilliant. She’s got the team around, we have team breakfasts.

When asked if she cooks for the whole team, Adam said, “Yes, yes, and she’s been so amazing and has played a huge part in these achievements. We always look at these athletes as their true selves, but it’s the people behind these athletes that really do the work and she plays a huge part in that.”

Adams’ interview follows a joke about his bond with Holly’s famous father Gordon.

While Adam may be best known for his amazing Olympic successes, he revealed one aspect that Gordon can certainly identify with.

The gold medal-winning swimmer admitted he suffers from a “red haze” of anger in the minutes before a big race, and has to calm himself down before jumping into the pool.

It’s a trait Gordon can relate to, as the chef is best known for his foul-mouthed TV tirades.

In an interview with the BBC ahead of his silver medal-winning race on Sunday, Adam was asked how he prepares for a big race.

He said, ‘I’m just trying to calm myself down ’cause I’m too excited, playlist, stretching [or] I think of the good times with Holly, George, my mother and father.

‘I fill my mind with optimism and hope, until 10 minutes before the race. Only then do I see red mist and get really angry.’

Gordon admitted he is no stranger to the ‘red mist’ and said he has a similar streak to Adam when it comes to expressing his anger.

The chief said, ‘You have this determination to outsmart everyone, and with that comes this anger that is misconstrued. How can you express that? I can express it this way.’

Peaty added: ‘I do that, but it offends people.’

Adam and Team GB finished fourth in the men’s 4x100m medley relay on Sunday evening, narrowly missing out on a medal.

Oliver Morgan was tasked with getting his team off to a strong start in the final men’s swimming event at the Paris Games, an event in which the United States and China were expected to battle for gold.

Adam was struggling with illness and missed the mixed relay, but after a great start he put in a strong performance to keep Team GB in the race.

His progress in the breaststroke briefly put Britain in second place after 200 metres, but Duncan Scott and Matthew Williams were unable to keep their team in the medal places as a jubilant home crowd forced France down to third.

The race was exciting until the end, but thanks to an incredible finish from Pan Zhanle, China won the gold with a time of 3:27.46.

After their victory, Adam questioned the legitimacy of China’s win in the men’s 4×100-meter medley relay, warning Olympic officials to “wake up and do your job.”

Qin Haiyang and Sun Jiajun helped their country to the gold medal, but were two of 23 Chinese swimmers who tested positive for the banned substance trimetazidine before the Tokyo Olympics.

The duo was allowed to participate because they unknowingly ingested the drug through contaminated food.

The issue has greatly overshadowed the run-up to Paris 2024 and has led to mistrust among several swimmers.

Both Katie Ledecky and Caeleb Dressel expressed their concerns, with Peaty joining the protest in the pool on the final night of the competition and criticizing Qin.

“One of my favorite quotes I’ve seen lately is that there’s no point in winning if you don’t win fair,” Peaty said. “I think you know that truth deep down.”
