Olympic gold medallist Adam Peaty appears with nasty gash above his eye after horror ‘punch-up with Team GB team-mate after he made joke about swimming star ex-girlfriend and slapped him on the bottom’

Olympic gold medalist Adam Peaty has been seen with a nasty gash above his eye following a horror attack with a Team GB teammate after he made a joke about his ex-girlfriend.

The swimming legend, 27, fought with Luke Greenbank, 25, after apparently hitting him on the bottom and making a ‘cocky joke’.

Anna Hopkin, 27, an Olympic champion herself, has been in a relationship with Mr Greenback for over two years, having previously been close with Peaty, who is now seeing Holly Ramsay, the daughter of TV chef Gordon.

A fight reportedly broke out last Friday at a Team GB swim training camp in Loughborough.

Witnesses claimed it started when Peaty made a joke to Greenback and then punched him on the buttocks. A fight broke out that left Peaty requiring treatment for a facial injury.

Today, MailOnline can reveal images of the star who appeared for children at an event for Oyster Pools & Hot Tubs Ltd last week, with a visible injury above his left eye.

The Sun has claimed that the brawl, described as ‘total carnage’, was accompanied by a joke by Peaty about Ms Hopkin.

Representatives for Mr Peaty declined to comment.

A source told The Sun: “It was an absolute carnage. Peaty was stubborn and made a joke at Greenbank’s expense before touching his backside. But his actions hit a real nerve at Greenbank and things got very heated.

“Peaty was left with a bloodied face and needed treatment.”

The Team GB coaching staff allegedly dealt with Peaty afterwards.

“The people around them persuaded Peaty and Greenbank to shake hands and leave the battle behind,” the insider added.

Peaty split from Eiri Munro, the mother of his two-year-old son George, last August and is now in a relationship with chef Gordon Ramsay’s daughter, Holly.

The 28-year-old has won eight world championships in addition to his Olympic titles and is widely hailed as the greatest breaststroke swimmer in history.

Greenbank and Peaty have previously competed side by side in Team GB relay races and even won silver in the 100m individual medley at the Tokyo Olympics.

Peaty took a break from swimming earlier in March as he tried to focus on his mental health and wellbeing.

Both Holly Ramsay and Adam have struggled with mental health and alcohol addiction.

In April Adam withdrew from the British Swimming Championships saying: ‘A good friend of mine said a gold medal is the coldest thing you’ll ever wear…because you think it will solve all your problems (and) won’t .’

In December, Holly celebrated two years of sobriety, having previously hit rock bottom. She also started 21 & Over, a podcast for people who suffer from anxiety.

Adam has a three-year-old son, George, with his ex-girlfriend Eiri Munro. The couple split last August when he apologized for abandoning her and their son.

He said at the time that the couple had decided to “go their separate ways” but that their son George, who turns two next month, remained their “priority”.

Adam announced the news via social media, writing: ‘Eiri and George, I’m sorry I let you down. My only interest is the well-being of our family during this difficult time.”
