Olly Murs reveals date for wedding to his bodybuilder fiancée Amelia Tank

Olly Murs plans to wed fiance Amelia Tank in June, a year after the couple got engaged.

The singer, 38, has spoken out about his wedding plans, revealing the only condition he’d made to his partner in the months before proposing.

He told The sun: ‘We want to get married next summer. That’s tricky because we got engaged in June, so we’ve only got a year to figure it out.”

Olly went on to say that he wanted to be the one to ask Amelia, 30, the question, explaining that he was sure she would have posted him otherwise.

He said, ‘I’ve always told Amelia – because we watch all those dating shows, Love Is Blind, Married At First Sight, Love Island, Amelia is obsessed with it – that all I ask is that I propose to you . I know how Amelia is. She’s quite impulsive. Otherwise she would have just proposed to me…

“We were on a cliff on the south coast, there were a lot of relatives, her brother was taking some pictures and I fell on one knee.”

Looking ahead, he told The Sun, “We want to get married next summer. That’s tricky because we got engaged in June, so we’ve only got a year to figure it out.”

The former X Factor contestant joked that he was lucky he didn’t fall off the cliff after having surgery on his knee last year and in 2019.

During an appearance on The One Show on Friday, Olly said of his wedding plans: “We were talking off the air, organizing a wedding is stressful and I’m leaving quite a bit to Amelia at the moment. But yes, it is very stressful. Really exciting though.

“I’ve never been married before and I hope I never get married again. So it gets so exciting. Obviously, Amelia is from Devon and I’m from Essex, so we’re trying to plan where we’re going to do it.”

Olly, who has been in a relationship with bodybuilder Amelia since 2019, previously revealed that their first official vacation together – a two-week trip to Morocco – sealed the deal.

He told new ones! magazine: ‘We were both sure. After two or three days, Amelia and I looked at each other and said, “Yeah, this is it now, isn’t it?” We both told each other we loved each other.’

Olly continued: “When we got back from that trip, Amelia said, ‘I knew right away that you were who I would spend the rest of my life with,’ and I said the same thing.”

Olly has spent the past few months writing his new album entitled Marry Me, which he dedicated to Amelia.

The pop star recently signed with EMI Records and shared a snippet of the reggae-tinged lead single Die Of A Broken Heart on Instagram on Friday.

He said of the song, “It’s got that steel drum in the intro, which just pops into your head right away. It has a very Gotye, Somebody I Used To Know feel, with a touch of The Police – and just a cool look. That really got me excited.’

The star is once again looking at a return to the charts after collaborating with BTS songwriters David Stewart and Jessica Agombar.

He said, ‘I’ve never done this before. It felt weird writing with the same people all the time. But I liked the routine and the consistency. We just kept writing good songs. They had a great vibe and an enthusiasm, and a hunger.’

The pop star’s latest album, You Know I Know, reached number two on the Official UK Albums Chart in 2018.

As the title of the LP suggests, there are songs about his bodybuilder fiancée Amelia Tank, whom he asked as his wife over the summer, including the emotional I Found Her.

The Heart Skips a Beat hitmaker also plans to embark on a UK arena tour next year, kicking off on April 21 in Glasgow.
