Olly Murs gets emotional over wife Amelia’s post as he’s separated from baby daughter to perform first gig ‘as a daddy’

Olly Murs is feeling emotional after leaving his wife Amelia Tank and their newborn daughter behind while on tour.

The 39-year-old singer gave his first performance ‘as a dad’ on Wednesday evening, just 48 hours after welcoming his first child.

Olly and the bodybuilder, 31, who married in July last year, announced the arrival of their daughter, Maddison, earlier today.

Amelia shared a clip of Olly on stage and wrote: ‘I’ve just been feeding our baby Madi and then we see this message. She doesn’t even know yet that she has a super dad. We both miss you very much but are so proud of you @ollymurs.’

Olly reposted Amelia’s post with a crying emoji, before posting a photo of himself cuddling a bunny on stage after receiving it as a gift for Maddison.

He wrote: ‘Aww guys. Madi will love it.’

Olly took to the stage with Take That at the First Direct Arena in Leeds and announced: ‘What’s great about tonight is that it’s my first show as a dad.

‘I’m going to try not to get emotional. Little Madison is doing really well.”

“She is at home with my lovely wife and it is a real honor to be here. I wasn’t going to leave you guys hanging tonight. I’m rushing home to see the baby.’

Take That’s This Life on Tour kicked off in Sheffield this weekend and ends in Norwich on May 28.

Olly and his wife Amelia welcomed their first child earlier this week and shared a sweet video on Instagram.

The couple uploaded a photo leaving the hospital as they revealed they had welcomed a baby girl.

The joint message read: ‘Our mini Murs has arrived. Madison, we love you so much already x’.

Olly and Amelia announced they were expecting their first child in December when they shared the exciting announcement on Instagram.

Dressed in Christmas jumpers, an excited Olly proudly held up a photo of their ultrasound scan as he pointed to Amelia’s blossoming baby bump.

He wrote: ‘Baby Murs due 2024’ as Amelia posed in unbuttoned jeans and a white crop top.

A host of showbiz friends of the couple took to the comments section to share their congratulations.

Ronan Keating gave a clapping hands emoji, while others joked that Olly should ‘name the baby Chelsea’, referring to his beloved football club.

When the couple got married in July, Olly shared his hopes of one day becoming a father.

The X Factor star told Hello! Magazine: ‘We’re ready to let our own little Murs run around.

“It’s so special that one day we can take our children to Osea Island and say, ‘We got married here.’

In another interview with OK! Magazine he said: ‘I’m not sure if I’m going for six children, but of course I would like to have children.’

The couple tied the knot in a three-day festival-themed wedding, 13 months after the former The X Factor star proposed.

Olly couldn’t hold back his tears as he saw Amelia arrive in her custom-made wedding dress, insisting it was a moment he will never forget.

He said: ‘I was blown away by how amazing it was. It was very magical – the perfect celebration of our love.”

‘I was about to cry at any moment. When my nephews walked down the aisle, I was gone, and when Amelia walked in – oh my God! My mother said she hasn’t seen me cry like that since I was four years old!’

Amelia enlisted the help of Australian bridal house Pallas Couture for a number of months to perfect her wedding dress.

The garment was decorated with beaded floral embroidery and had loose sleeves and a long train with a floor-length veil.

The wedding, nicknamed Murs Fest, saw a number of big music names perform, including Olly himself and fellow singer Craig David.

A total of 71 people joined the couple for a BBQ on Friday evening before exchanging vows the following afternoon.

On Sunday morning, another 70 of Olly and Amelia’s relatives and friends arrived at Osea Island by boat, including Olly’s TV personality friend Mark Wright.

Olly’s house band and singer Katie Holmes-Smith – who is currently performing with Adele during her Las Vegas residency – took to the stage, followed by Heart FM DJ Pandora Christie.

Olly and Amelia who met on Instagram in 2019, took their romance public in 2020 and enjoyed a total of four hen dos before their wedding.

Olly was a contestant on the sixth series of the TV talent show The X Factor in 2009. He finished second and has gone on to build a career on TV.

Amelia is now a bodybuilder and won the Pure Elite bikini competition in Margate in 2021.
