While Olivia, her boyfriend Harry Style and co-co-stars Gemma Chan and Sydney Chandler were all in attendance, stars Florence Pugh and Chris Pine were noticeably absent from the red carpet.

Once again, Styles and Wilde seemed eager to shake off any sign of upset, though the pair saw several intense glances exchanged on the red carpet, with the singer-turned-actor at one point appearing to be staring at his girlfriend with a furrowed brow – the only sign of distress that was visible all evening.

Pugh and Pine’s absence from the red carpet event comes in the wake of multiple reports of on-set fallouts between the film’s stars, director Wilde, and actor Shia LaBeouf – who was initially cast alongside Pugh in the male lead.

The first controversy arose after Styles and Wilde made their relationship public when they were seen holding hands at a California wedding in January 2021, following weeks of speculation that the pair was an item.

However, eyebrows had been raised about how quickly Wilde had moved on with her ex-fiancé, Ted Lasso star Jason Sudeikis, from whom she split in November 2020.

Wilde recently hit out at claims that there was a crossover in her relationships, telling Vanity Fair magazine, “The complete idea that I left Jason for Harry is completely inaccurate.

“Like any relationship that ends, this one doesn’t end overnight. Unfortunately Jason and I had a very bumpy road and we officially disbanded the relationship at the start of the pandemic.”

That split became the source of more scandal when Wilde received legal papers for the couple’s custody battle over their two children, Otis, eight, and Daisy, five, in front of hundreds of spectators during a talk at CinemaCon in Las Vegas in April, a move that later labeled them as “aggressive” and “threatening.”

Then Wilde became embroiled in a bitter battle of words with LaBeouf, after claiming she fired him from the project over concerns about his “belligerentness,” claiming she made the decision out of a desire to “protect” leading lady Pugh. .

However, LaBeouf hit back at the director’s claims, claiming that he actually got out of the movie because he didn’t feel like he’d had enough time to rehearse with the rest of the cast — while sharing text conversations with Wilde that seemed to serve as evidence for his side of the argument.

Claims of an on-set feud between Wilde and Pugh also continued to haunt the film’s release, with sources suggesting 26-year-old Pugh felt “uncomfortable” about the director’s committed relationship with Styles.

“Flo seeing Olivia and Harry walking over each other on set didn’t go well because Olivia was still with Jason when she first made contact with Harry,” an insider claimed. Page six.

“Jason and the kids visited Olivia on set a few times in the beginning, so I think people felt a little uncomfortable because of that.”

Pugh then admitted in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar that she was unhappy with the way the film’s trailer emphasized the sex scenes in the film, saying that she felt the Don’t Worry clip had “reduced” Darling to its most graphical aspects.

“If it’s reduced to your sex scenes, or watching the most famous man in the world take someone down, that’s not why we do it. It’s not why I’m in this industry,” she said. “Of course, the nature of hiring the most famous pop star in the world, you’re going to have conversations like that. That’s just not what I’m going to discuss because [this movie is] bigger and better than that. And the people who made it are bigger and better than that.”

In one of the more bizarre twists and turns in the Don’t Worry Darling saga, a video from the Venice Film Festival next appeared in which Styles appeared to spit on his co-star Pine as he sat down at a screening of the film on September 5.

The clip showed Styles moving to his seat next to Chris, who was already clapping, before stopping immediately and frowning as his opponent approached. Despite thousands of viewers insisting they had seen Styles “spit” on Pine, a representative for the latter later spoke out vehemently to deny that “spit” had taken place.
