Olivia Rodrigo fans delight as singer teases pageant-themed Obsession music video ahead of official drop
Olivia Rodrigo is at it again with the upcoming deluxe version of her popular studio album Guts.
One day after unveiling plans for a release on Friday, the singer songwriter took to social media to announce a brand new music video for one of the new songs on the extended edition.
“Obsessed video coming out tomorrow at 9pm!!!!!!” she wrote in the caption, which actually translates to midnight, Friday, March 22, in the 20-second teaser clip.
Obsessed, as well as the songs Scared of My Guitar, Stranger and Girl I’ve Always Been, were initially released exclusively on limited editions of the Guts vinyl as hidden tracks.
While the fifth track on the new deluxe version, titled So American, is a brand new song that Rodrigo recorded after the original album came out last year.

In total, the deluxe version will feature five more songs, with Obsessed serving as the lead single from the new release, but the fourth single since the rising star released Guts on September 8, 2023.
The teaser clip begins with the song’s intro playing in the background and a shot of the rising star vacuuming while dressed in a black dress and a beauty pageant sash that reads, “Miss Right Now.”
The top reads, “All his exes and Olivia Rodrigo presents…” and then shows Rodrigo as she is about to enter a room full of young ladies in beauty pageant sashes all dressed in white, with each of them apparently represents one of ‘his exes’.
The first two women standing next to each other wore sashes: “Miss Thought She Was the One” and “Miss Thought She Was the One.”
At this point in the preview clip, the editing starts to speed up and there is another young lady wearing a ‘Miss 2 Summers Ago’ sash, who has been seen laying champagne on the floor.
As the music, along with the visuals, reaches a crescendo, there are brief clips of a band playing, all dressed in black suits.
There’s also a brief shot of Rodrigo rocking out while leading the band on vocals as the music gets louder and louder.
The teaser ends with Rodrigo, still dressed in black, facing forward toward the camera in front of the room full of ladies in white.

The theme of the preview video seems to match the song’s jealousy-fueled lyrics that include the pre-chorus in the chorus: “I’m so obsessed with your ex (uh-huh) / I know she’s by my side slept from your bed / And I can feel it / I’m staring at her like I want to get hurt / And I remember / Every detail you ever told me, so be careful, baby / I’m so obsessed with your ex ( ah) Yeah, I’m so obsessed with your ex (ah).”

A sonically diverse pop album with energetic songs and soft ballads, Guts as a whole experiments more with rock influences than her debut studio release Sour (2021).
Vampire was the lead single from Guts on June 30, 2023 and shot straight to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart, marking her third number one song.
The second single, Bad Idea Right? would drop in August and reach the top 10 in Australia, the US and the UK, followed by the third single, Get Him Back! in September, peaking in the top 10 of the Billboard Global 200 chart.
To date, Guts has topped the album charts in 15 countries, including the US, Australia, Germany, Sweden and the UK.
