Olivia Newton-John’s husband John Easterling has shared a heartfelt memory of the late singer to mark her first birthday since her death.
Olivia passed away last month after a brave and public decades-long battle with cancer, with her being diagnosed three times in 1992, 2013, and, most recently, in 2017.
On Monday – what would have been her 74th birthday – John, 70, shared a beautiful photo of the couple via her Instagram account, sharing the story of their very first trip to the Bahamas.

It was their first trip as a couple to celebrate Olivia’s birthday.
“I remember the first anniversary when we were together and I took Olivia on a week-long adventure in the Out Islands of the Bahamas, surrounded by beautiful, peaceful, spectacular turquoise water,” he recalls.
John added that the couple, who married in 2008, were staying in a secluded private house with no roads and had to travel everywhere by boat.
‘There are so many islands there’ [that] you almost always have an island in sight when you’re on your boat,” he continued.

“It was private, it was great, and we would take the boat to uninhabited islands and hit the beach and just explore — just the two of us.”
The Amazon Herb Company founder then recalled their day trip to Great Guana Cay, where the winds began to pick up when they returned.
There was suddenly “no visibility” as he explained that the clouds “started to roll in” and the water got “jerky.”
“Olivia got behind me as I navigated this 7-foot runabout with a downtown consul,” John recalled. “The only instrument was a magnetic compass.”
“It was private, it was great, and we’d take the boat to uninhabited islands and the beach and just explore — just the two of us,” John recalled.
“But just as quickly as the storm set in, the winds died down, the rains stopped, the sun broke through, and the seas returned to that beautiful turquoise.”
John said dolphins then started jumping out of the water near the boat when a rainbow appeared on the horizon.
“Oliva looked at me like a superhero and I knew it was mostly blind faith and stupid luck,” he said.
“As the dolphins led us across the beautiful aqua waters, under the rainbow to the lighthouse, we both recognized that the fingerprints of the supernatural were everywhere—and that’s the way we lived our lives.”
John concluded his post: ‘Every day with Olivia there was a touch of magic and [an] every day with Olivia was a little supernatural. Happy birthday baby – I love you!’
It comes after Olivia’s daughter, Chloe Lattanzi, announced that she and her cousin Tottie Goldsmith would be supporting the Walk for Wellness in honor of her late mother.

Chloe added: ‘I love you mama. I miss you everyday. And I feel you wrapped around me every moment, guiding all my movements. Share this with as many people as possible. I send you all the oceans of love. Chloe’.

Earlier this week, the actress shared a never-before-seen video on Instagram of the private ceremony that took place in the Bahamas.
