Olivia Munn tells Kelly Clarkson that ‘facing death’ from cancer helped cure her ‘postpartum anxiety’ because it taught her to let go of ‘past baggage’

Kelly Clarkson presented Olivia Munn at her talk show on Tuesday. The ladies talked about The Newsroom star’s battle with cancer.

And during their conversation in New York City, Munn told Clarkson — who looked thin in the leopard print last week — the one thing she’s learned during her health crisis.

“I couldn’t climb a mountain with all this extra weight,” the 43-year-old said, which meant letting go of bad feelings from the past to battle cancer.

Munn also mentioned that she had postpartum anxiety and how dealing with life-changing decisions and the possibility of death helped her let go of her past baggage and finally live in the moment.

Olivia also said that having one woman on the medical staff made a big difference. ‘She literally saved my life. She is my guardian angel,” Munn said, adding that her team of doctors recommended aggressive treatment.

Kelly Clarkson hosted Olivia Munn on her talk show on Tuesday. The ladies talked about The Newsroom star’s battle with cancer. And during their meeting in New York City, Munn shared the one thing she’s learned during her health crisis

“I couldn’t climb a mountain with all this extra weight,” the 43-year-old said, which meant she had to let go of bad feelings from the past to battle cancer

This comes after Munn said her son was the reason she documented her brutal battle with breast cancer.

The actress was diagnosed with bilateral breast cancer in April 2023 and a year later shared her diagnosis on social media, revealing in March that she had undergone a double mastectomy after an MRI revealed a rapidly progressing, aggressive form of the disease in both breasts had found.

She told Good Morning America: “Cancer is it… that’s the word you don’t want to hear.

“There are a lot of other things you think you can beat, but you know cancer kills a lot of people. And all I thought about was my baby.”

Olivia was referring to her two-year-old son Malcolm, who she shares with her 41-year-old comedy partner John Mulaney.

She added why she wanted to “document” her cancer journey: “Well, because if I didn’t make it, I wanted my son, when he got older, to know that I fought to be here.” That I did my best.

“You want the people in your life… you want the people who might not really understand what’s going on to know that you did everything you could to be here.”

Olivia also shared how part of the treatment for her ‘luminal B’ cancer involved suppressing the production of hormones that cause the cancer to grow, which led to her going into a medically induced menopause, which left her without time could spend with her son.

Munn also mentioned that she had postpartum anxiety and how dealing with life-changing decisions and the possibility of death helped her let go of her past baggage and finally live in the moment. Seen with Kim Raver and the founder of I Will Survive

She added, “The hormone suppression therapy is brutal and it left me with next level debilitating exhaustion.

“I was in bed all day, all day, and my quality of life was so minimal that I couldn’t be there for my baby.

“Every time Malcolm came into the house he would run straight to my bed because he knows I’m there, like he associates that with me.

“And that was just too hard for me to bear. I had to find out if there was another option.”

Olivia decided to have a hysterectomy and oophorectomy, but wanted to do an egg retrieval before the operations so that she and John still had the option of having more children.

She added, “John and I talked about it for a long time. We realized we weren’t done growing our family yet.

“That’s a scary process because I have a cancer that feeds on hormones, so I knew there was a risk and our doctor said, ‘Look, we’re going to get you one and then we’re going to call it.’

“And then our doctor called and he said, ‘Hey, we got the results back.’ They’re two healthy embryos, and I… I mean, we just started crying, both of us.”

Olivia underwent four operations in 10 months during her cancer journey, which she said became “scary” because she was also a mother.

Olivia also said that having one woman on the medical staff made a big difference. ‘She literally saved my life. She is my guardian angel,” Munn said, adding that her team of doctors recommended aggressive treatment

Kelly looked slim on the show. The 42-year-old singer wore a green outfit and high heels.

Her waist looked smaller than ever after losing 50 pounds last year.

At first, the Texas diva said she shed the pounds with power walks and a healthier diet, but last week she finally admitted to taking a weight-loss drug after gaining 203 pounds.

However, it wasn’t Ozempic. She didn’t say what the drug is, but it could be Glyburide, which lowers blood sugar levels by causing the pancreas to produce insulin.

Kelly’s admission of weight loss drugs has dominated headlines.

The Because of You hitmaker was interviewing Whoopi Goldberg, who was taking diabetes drug Mounjaro to shed the pounds, when she admitted she was helped by another drug that helps break down sugar because her “body isn’t doing it right.”

She told the Ghost actress, 68, on her talk show: ‘Mine is a different one than people think, but in the end I had to do that too.

‘Everyone thinks it’s Ozempic, but it’s not – it’s something else.

“My doctor chased me for about two years,” she said. ‘And I thought: no, I’m afraid of it. I already have thyroid problems, I was afraid.”

The Breakaway hitmaker admitted that she never saw herself bigger at her heaviest, which she claims was 203 pounds, for a long time until one day she suddenly didn’t recognize herself anymore.

Kelly said: ‘When I saw yourself, I didn’t see it…all of a sudden I was like, ‘Who the fuck is that?’

She added: “It’s weird… I’ve never seen that, I’ve never been insecure about it – I just haven’t seen that.”

The crooner admitted she thought she looked like she was “about to die of a heart attack” before she underwent her transformation, which reportedly saw her lose 60 pounds.

Whoopi said she got up to 300 pounds herself before she decided to do something about it.

Kelly told her, “You look great, and I hope you feel great.”

The latter lost weight after being told she was pre-diabetic.

Kelly was forced to explain her weight loss after it was rumored she was taking Ozempic, but she denied this was the case and revealed her doctor’s health warning was behind it.

She previously said on her eponymous talk show: ‘I was told I was pre-diabetic. That was literally what happened. I wasn’t shocked. I was a little bit overweight, so I wasn’t shocked.

“But they said, ‘You’re pre-diabetic.’ You’re right on the borderline.’

“I thought, ‘But I’m not there yet.’ And then I waited two years and then moved to the – I thought, ‘Okay, I’ll do something about it.’

The ‘Since U Been Gone’ hitmaker – who has River Rose, nine, and Remington, seven, with her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock – followed Dr.’s famous ‘Plant Paradox Diet’. Steven R. Gundry.

She recently told People, “I eat a healthy mix. I lost weight because I listened to my doctor.

‘And 90 percent of the time I’m very good at it, because a protein diet is good for me anyway.

“I’m a Texas girl, so I love meat – sorry, vegetarians in the world!”

The TV star – who previously admitted to having suicidal thoughts when she was skinny – moved to New York after her split from ex-husband Brandon, and she says walking around the city is “quite a workout.”

Of her other wellness pursuits, she added, “And I’m loving infrared saunas at the moment.

“And I just got a cold dip because everyone was wearing me out.”
