Olivia Munn jokingly says ‘goodbye’ to ‘personal space’ as she lets son Malcolm, two, put a finger up her NOSE – after revealing she froze her eggs amid breast cancer battle

Olivia Munn introduced fans to her family life when she shared a clip with her son Malcolm on Instagram on Wednesday.

The 43-year-old mum – who recently revealed she had undergone a hysterectomy – shares the two-year-old toddler with partner John Mulaney, 41.

While playing with her toddler on the couch at home, Munn let him stick a little finger up her nose and joked, “Goodbye personal space.”

In another clip shared via her Instagram Stories, The Wire star said: “These are my favorite moments.”

It comes amid the actress’ breast cancer battle, which she has spoken about openly since sharing her diagnosis in March.

Also on Wednesday, Munn teased a clip from her newly recorded interview with Michael Strahan on GMA.

She reposted part of the conversation, in which she discussed her health, writing, “I sat down with my good friend @michaelstrahan. Catch us tomorrow on @goodmorningamerica.”

The footage showed Strahan asking Olivia why she chose to document her cancer journey, as she solemnly replied, “Because if I didn’t make it, I wanted my son – when he got older – to know that I fought to be here. that I did my best.’

She revealed this in a new interview with Fashion that she underwent a “complete hysterectomy” in her ongoing battle with cancer.

‘I’ve now had a full hysterectomy. I removed my uterus, fallopian tubes and ovaries,” the star revealed to the publication.

She added: ‘Performing a full hysterectomy was a big decision, but it was the best decision for me because I had to be there for my family.’

The mother-of-one explained that she made the decision after being given the choice between the procedure and taking anti-hormone medications that would have left her bedridden.

“I really had a moment of panic,” she remembers. ‘A real breakdown. Because it’s so strange when you’ve been with this body all your life, you’ve had your period for so long, you feel when you’re ovulating and suddenly it’s gone.’

Last year she also underwent a double mastectomy.

Munn was diagnosed in April 2023, just two months after she and her sister Sara tested negative following a genetic analysis that checks for 90 genes linked to cancer.

‘We called each other and high-fived over the phone. That same winter I also had a negative mammogram,” she said last March.

‘Two months later I was diagnosed with breast cancer.’

Olivia noted, “The biopsy showed I had Luminal B cancer in both breasts. Luminal B is an aggressive, fast-moving cancer.

‘Thirty days after that biopsy, I had a double mastectomy. From one day I felt completely fine, until the next day I woke up in a hospital bed after a ten-hour operation.’

In her recent Vogue profile, Munn also opened up about her decision to freeze her eggs in hopes of expanding her family with Mulaney.

The X-Men actress revealed that she and Mulaney underwent the procedure after her breast cancer diagnosis, as chemotherapy and radiation can affect a person’s fertility.

“After my diagnosis we decided to try another round of egg retrieval and hoped it was a good month,” she said, after revealing she had tried the procedure three times – when she was 33, 39 and most recently 42.

“John and I have talked about it a lot and we don’t feel like we’re done growing our family yet, but didn’t know if I should do chemotherapy or radiation,” she added.

Ultimately, doctors recovered seven eggs from the procedure, although their viability was questioned as Olivia shared that only about one in ten eggs typically produces a healthy embryo for women in her age range.

All Olivia and John could do at the time was wait to see if one of them would successfully develop into a healthy embryo.

Regarding her embryos, Munn expressed her inclination to pursue the option of surrogacy in the future. “I can’t carry a baby anymore, so if we want to start our family, this is our option,” she explained.

“A few hours later we got the call from my doctor. He said we had two healthy embryos,” the actress recalled.

“John and I just started crying. It was just so exciting because not only did we get it in one go, but it also meant I didn’t have to keep putting myself in danger. It was just amazing.’
