Olivia Cooke looked elegant in an emerald green suit as House of the Dragon’s second season began filming on Saturday.

Based on George RR Martin’s Fire & Blood, the series, set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones, tells the story of House Targaryen.

The actress, 29, who plays Alicent Hightower in the Game Of Thrones prequel, wore a green dress with gold details.

Olivia wore a matching veil, while her auburn locks were styled in a neat bun.

She wore a bronze makeup palette that accentuated her natural features, with a hint of pink lipstick.

It comes after a new image from the set shows the throne, with members of the production crew visible in the background.

Ryan Condal, showrunner and executive producer of the series, teased what fans can expect from season two.

He said, ‘House of the Dragon has returned. We are excited to be shooting again with members of our original family as well as new talent on both sides of the camera.

“All of your favorite characters will soon be conspiring at the council tables, marching their armies and drawing their dragons into battle. We can’t wait to share what we have in store.”

Season two cast includes Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, Eve Best, Steve Toussaint, Fabien Frankel, Ewan Mitchell, Tom Glynn-Carney, Sonoya Mizuno, and Rhys Ifans.

Other returning stars include Harry Collett, Bethany Antonia, Phoebe Campbell, Phia Saban, Jefferson Hall and Matthew Needham.

The first season was praised by critics with particular praise for the show’s visual effects and character development.

HBO bosses hope the next batch of episodes will replicate the success of season one, with the first episode being viewed by more than 10 million on its first day.

It comes after House of the Dragon star Matt Smith’s former The Crown co-star Claire Foy admitted she struggles to see him in the fantasy series.

Matt portrays the divisive and obnoxious Prince Daemon Targaryen in the show.

He takes his young niece to King’s Landing, the capital of Westeros, where she visits a brothel and the pair share a kiss.

House of the Dragon debuted on August 21, drawing 9.986 million viewers, the most for any premiere in HBO history.

The show was ranked No. 1 as the “most social series in all of TV and streaming” according to Talkwalker’s ranking for total interactions.

The show also led to “increased viewership” of the flagship series Game of Thrones, which saw “month-over-month gains” this summer before House of the Dragon debuted.

The ascent culminated in the “all-time highest weekly audience on HBO Max following the House of the Dragon premiere.”
