Olivia Colman gets into character in a vintage tweed ensemble for new film Wicked Little Letters

Olivia Colman got stuck in her character on Friday when she filmed scenes for her new movie Wicked Little Letters in Sussex – which is based on a true story.

The Oscar winner took the secluded Arundel set and got a 1920s makeover—with a forest green tweed blazer and navy blue cloche hat.

She ate a small cake during filming and put on an animated display for the cameras as she joined co-star Anjana Vasan.

Olivia stars as Edith Swan in director Thea Sharrock’s latest project, based on the true story of neighbors who come together after receiving a series of hateful poison letters from an unknown source.

While filming the scenes, she wore a tweed midi skirt to match her oversized blazer, with a lighter green button-up shirt underneath.

A pair of light brown tights were added to the ensemble along with little black heels with a strap design.

Paired with black leather gloves, the actress carried a matching leather handbag as she portrayed the shamed spinster role.

While Olivia’s dark brown locks were tucked under her gold-lined hat, while her complexion was subtly enhanced with a light palette of makeup.

She appeared cheerful during filming, and the star has been seen on set for the past few days – since first photography in the area began about two weeks ago.

Olivia will star alongside Jessie Buckley in the upcoming film, with the Irish actress expected to play Rose Gooding – the fiery younger woman falsely accused of drafting a spate of hateful letters to various members of the community.

Those familiar with the infamous case will know that Edith (Olivia), a respected member of the community, was eventually exposed as the author of the poison pen, charged with criminal libel and eventually tried in the Lewes Magistrates Court in 2021.

The new film is seen as a light-hearted take on the case, with neighbors joining forces to solve the mystery after the finger of blame is wrongly pointed at the Gooding.

On two occasions, she would be sent to prison for crimes of which she was totally innocent, and the case would involve a total of four trials.

The case was high-profile, with each trial ruthlessly reported by the national press and captivated the nation.
