Crystal Palace head coach Oliver Glasner has admitted holding talks with striker Eddie Nketiah to determine whether he suffered a hamstring injury during a private session with a personal trainer.
Glasner says Arsenal’s summer signing has given him assurance that the injury is not the result of extra work outside the club’s auspices after Saturday’s draw against Wolves, a response the Palace boss insists he accepts.
However, the Austrian was forced to seek clarity on the situation amid internal concerns that the injury, which has been confirmed by Glasner, was not sustained while on club duty.
Mail Sport exclusively revealed on Thursday that Palace determined the full details of the muscle strain amid suspicions the problem was suffered outside their Beckenham headquarters.
Glasner has confirmed that he spoke to the forward earlier this week and asked him if he had taken an extra session after last weekend’s 2-2 draw against Wolves, which saw Palace players given two days off. Nketiah did not train as planned at Palace’s training ground on Tuesday.

“I heard about it and talked to him,” Glasner said. ‘He said after the match that he felt his hamstring. He had a scan and it was a little more serious than expected.
‘I always trust my players. I spoke to Eddy. Everything is fine.’
Glasner says he should have taken more care of his summer signing against Molineux, adding: ‘It’s my fault and fault for not coming on for him in the Wolves game earlier – he was sprinting again.
‘In the game between Wolves and Tottenham we were the number one team in the Premier League for high-intensity runs. I should have caught him sooner.
