Oleksandr Usyk’s promoter confirms they have won the purse bid for Usyk vs Daniel Dubois

Oleksandr Usyk’s promoter confirms they have won the cash prize for Usyk vs Daniel Dubois…before announcing their plans to host the WBA, IBF & WBO heavyweight world title fight on August 12 in Poland

Oleksandr Usyk’s promoter Alex Krassyuk has announced that they won the award for the Ukrainian’s fight with Daniel Dubois.

Krassyuk have also revealed their plans to hold the WBA, IBF & WBO heavyweight world title fight on August 12 in Wroclaw, Poland.

According to reports, Krassyuk offered $8 million and faced one opponent. That was Frank Warren and he would have submitted $5.6 million.

In addition, the purse split would be 75/25, meaning Usyk will receive $6 million and Dubois will receive $2 million from the fight this summer.

Queenberry Promotions tweeted, “We fully support Daniel Dubois in his unified world heavyweight title fight against Oleksandr Usyk. Time to shock the world – UK stand with this young man!!’.

Usyk has been tasked to defend his unified heavyweight titles against Dubois after failing to negotiate a mega fight with Tyson Fury last month.

Usyk had proposed a 70-30 split in Fury’s favor to push through a deal. However, the Ukrainian eventually pulled the plug on the talks.

He grew frustrated with Fury’s outrageous demands – such as asking for a rematch clause to be removed from their fight contract.

However, Fury’s loss is largely Dubois’ gain in this case, with the WBA now going ahead with their mandatory requirements.

Dubois is gearing up for his first world heavyweight title in arguably the biggest test of his six-year career to date.

The Greenwich fighter has amassed 19 wins, 18 of them by knockout, with his only defeat coming from domestic rival Joe Joyce in November 2020.

Despite leading the scorecards at the time, Dubois was forced to retire in the 10th round of his confrontation with Joyce after breaking an eye socket.

However, he bounced back from defeat to record four straight wins before being linked with the Ukrainian.

Many have questioned whether it would be wise for Dubois to join Usyk at this stage of his career, but the man himself insists he is up for the challenge.

“I believe I can knock him out,” he said recently Seconds off. “I want to end Usyk’s reign, take all tapes and fulfill my promise and what my potential is.”

“I’ve got the timing, I’ve got the youth and I’ve got the speed. With my coaches and the team I have around me, I feel that miracles can happen here.”

‘He’s just a different man. He is fit and he has proven to be a talented boxer. But I believe I can.’
