‘Everything will be done from our side’: Oleksandr Usyk’s manager insists the Ukrainian has agreed terms to fight Tyson Fury in 2023, but claims they are now waiting for the Gypsy King to sign for an undisputed showdown
- Oleksandr Usyk’s manager has confirmed potential progress in the fight against Tyson Fury
- The Ukrainian retained his WBA, IBF and WBO titles with his Anthony Joshua win
- There was plenty of talk of an undisputed heavyweight bout with Tyson Fury
- The Gypsy King has instead chosen to fight Derek Chisora at Tottenham Stadium
Oleksandr Usyk’s manager has confirmed progress is being made towards a possible undisputed confrontation with Tyson Fury in 2023.
The Ukrainian last appeared in the ring in August when he retained his WBA, IBF and WBO titles after a split-decision win over Anthony Joshua in Jeddah.
There were numerous talks about an undisputed heavyweight bout with WBC belt holder Fury that took place right after Usyk’s success in Saudi Arabia.

The Gypsy King has chosen to face Derek Chisora at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium next month.
Despite that decision, both fighters are still in the process of drafting a winner to compete for sometime next year.
Usyk’s manager Egis Klimas has confirmed that the fight that takes place is solely dependent on Fury, with them having everything in place and ready to go for the match.

Klimas told seconds off: ‘Everything is done from our side – everything.
‘So there’s only one man who can say, ‘Yeah, we’re going’ [ahead];’ that’s Fury.’
His manager also understands that Usyk would be the underdog, despite being the fighter with more belts, if the fight is agreed.
‘Size difference, of course, that’s not in Usyk’s favor,’ said Klimas. ‘(Fury) is a giant. In addition, he is a good fighter. He is first and foremost a talented fighter; Second, he has a good boxing IQ.
“He’s a very, very dangerous fighter.”
These comments come on the back of Usyk himself, who confirmed earlier this week that he will be Fury first next time.
Usyk confirmed earlier this week at the Web Summit in Lisbon that he wants to fight Fury alone next time
“Right now my team is looking for talks with Tyson Fury and he’s really an unpredictable person, so we can’t guarantee when,” Usyk told the PA news agency at the Web Summit in Lisbon.
“For me, the idea would be to fight maybe in early February or early March, like March 4, because I’m an Orthodox Christian.
“During the great Easter fast, I don’t fight, so it should all be before or after Orthodox Easter (April 16).
“I want to fight Fury because I need the fourth belt and I don’t want to fight anyone else until I get the fourth belt.”
