Bernie’s granddaughter Sarah Sicherman, 39, said Today that the two – despite having been together for almost ten years – only started talking about marriage after Marjorie fell and broke her leg, which spurred the couple into action.

“There was kind of a moment of, ‘I don’t want to live without you,’ and so it was just a ‘why don’t we get married?’ something like that,” she said.

Bernie’s granddaughter Sarah Sicherman opened up about the couple’s relationship

‘It was kind of on impulse. At first we thought it was a joke, but then they just went ahead with it and took all the necessary steps.”

Sarah explained that the centenarians wanted to “go all the way” and formally applied for a marriage license to make it an official legal union.

To do this, the couple both had to get new photo IDs because their driver’s licenses had expired.

Marjorie and Bernie were married in a traditional Jewish wedding in front of ten of their closest relatives during an intimate celebration.

“It’s not often that I am asked to preside over the wedding of a bride and groom who have each lived for more than a century (in fact, this is the only time this has ever happened),” Rabbi Adam Wohlberg, who officiated had. , has since said.

“The fact that they have found love again is heartwarming.”
