OKTAGON MMA is offering fighters in their welterweight category ‘prize money never seen before’ in Europe.

The MMA promotion are in the semi-finals of their €1million (£850,000) ‘Gamechanger’ welterweight tournament after starting with 16 fighters.

The four fighters competing in the semi-final of the tournament this weekend are each guaranteed a minimum of €80,000 (£68,687).

Meanwhile, those who progress to the final of the competition will each be guaranteed a minimum of €130,000 (£111,617).

Pavol Neruda, co-owner of OKTAGON MMA, said: “We want to reward our fighters with the wages they deserve.

The MMA promotion is in the semi-finals of their €1 million (£850,000) ‘Gamechanger’ tournament and the four fighters competing are guaranteed to earn at least €80,000 (£68,687).

‘The €1 million prize pool for the Gamechanger has given the 16 competing fighters the opportunity to cash in and make history by winning the tournament.

“We want to create heroes with this tournament, but the health of our fighters is the most important thing, and financial rewards are important.”

Neruda concluded by saying, “As we have grown, so has the prize money, and it will continue to do so.”

OKTAGON MMA heads to Frankfurt on Saturday, September 16 for OKTAGON 46, highlighted by the women’s strawweight title fight pitting Jacinda Austin against Katharina Dalisda.

The semifinals will feature former OKTAGON MMA welterweight champion David Kozma versus Bojan Velickovic, as well as Louis Glismann versus Andreas Michailidis.

OKTAGON has also signed a broadcast deal that will see the promotion streamed on Channel 4 and their YouTube channel.

The first of many shows airs on November 4, with Jake Quickenden making his MMA debut in Manchester.
