Oklahoma elementary school faces huge backlash after hiring drag queen ‘Shantel Mandalay’ as principal – with state superintendent Ryan Walters slamming move as ‘liberal insanity’

An Oklahoma elementary school is facing a huge backlash after hiring a drag queen as its principal, with the superintendent denouncing the decision as complete “madness.”

Oklahoma State Police Chief Ryan Walters has called for the immediate termination of the drag queen who goes by the name ‘Shantel Mandalay’.

Walters, an outspoken opponent of the measure, denounced Western Heights School District’s hiring decision, telling Fox News Digital, “It’s outrageous to have a drag queen running a school, you know, here in Oklahoma that’s not in line is with Oklahoma values.”

He cited parents’ concerns about what he called “left-wing indoctrination” and “gender theory” in schools.

“Every day I hear from parents concerned about this woke left-wing indoctrination or schools, this gender theory that continues to be forced on our children. It’s completely inappropriate.’

The drag queen in question, Dr. Shane Murnan, who was named principal of John Glenn Elementary School in June, has a controversial past, including child pornography charges nearly two decades ago that were later dropped.

However, the school district defended the hiring, highlighting the individual’s qualifications and excellent reputation.

The school district released a statement saying, “Dr. Murnan has been in the education field for more than 25 years and has an excellent reputation,” the school district wrote. “He comes highly recommended by previous supervisors, colleagues and faculty.”

“He holds a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, a Masters of Education in Educational Administration and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Administration,” it added. ‘Our name is Dr. Welcome Murnan to Western Heights, and we are very excited about his vision for John Glenn and the community.”

Murnan works as a drag queen at a venue called “The Boom,” according to her Facebook page.

“By day she’s an assistant principal molding young minds, but by night she’s the life of the party,” said a Facebook post announcing Murnan’s participation in the 2023 Pride Benefit Gala.

The drag queen in question, Dr. Shane Murnan, who was named principal of John Glenn Elementary School in June, has a controversial past, including child pornography charges nearly two decades ago that were later dropped.

According to Murnan’s biography, he has an “impressive array of titles,” including Miss Gay Oklahoma America and Miss Gay Oklahoma USA.

Walters argued that this decision is part of a broader agenda by the left to influence children’s beliefs and dissolve family units.

“Their end goal is to absolutely destroy a child’s mind, destroy the classroom, destroy the family, and you see the results that come from that.”

“They want children to turn against their parents and only listen to their left-wing ideology,” he added.

Walters argued that the decision is part of the left’s “scheme” to control student values.

‘And how do you do that?’ he said. ‘You begin…. break them apart and say, listen, you’re gender fluid. Listen, you can change your pronouns…. Look at the sexual material. “If the child brings it home and their parents are furious about it, the children turn on their parents.”

Walters claimed the agenda turns children away from their parents’ beliefs.

“This is absolutely trying to break down that family unit so that the child becomes more susceptible to the most radical Marxist gender ideology we’ve ever seen, pitting groups of people against each other. And frankly, it’s to create Democratic voters.”

‘No parent wants to send their children to school knowing that they could be exposed to this radical gender theory in any way. This woke war against our children must stop. We won’t allow it in Oklahoma. This is the liberal madness that every parent wants out of the classroom,” Walters added.

“We will not allow our children to be part of their radical left game to push ideology and further their end goal of creating social justice warriors instead of students who understand how education can provide them with a path to success. We won’t allow it. This will stop.’
