OK cold case is revived after woman turned to TikTok in search for answers about missing her parents

A cold case in Oklahoma has reopened after a woman took to TikTok to ask for help finding her missing parents, who disappeared more than 25 years ago – their bodies were discovered in the woods.

Dallas Burr, 30, originally from Texas, was a toddler when her parents Brian, 23, and Rachel, 21, went missing, having last been seen in Pennsylvania’s grandfather’s ex-wife. She was raised by her grandmother who passed away in 2014.

On April 9, 1995, the bodies of Brian and Rachel were found with gunshot wounds in a wooded area in Pittsburg County, Oklahoma, off US Highway 69. But authorities were never able to determine who the mysterious couple were.

At the time of her first video two years ago, Burr believed her parents were still alive and said, “I don’t want anything from them, I just want to meet them.”

But she discovered the truth after submitting her DNA to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation last year. On April 12, authorities were able to identify the remains.

Now, as a result of her drawing attention to their deaths online and matching her DNA, the cold case has been reopened.

By the time Burr turned eight, she was “orphaned by the State of Texas, as no one had seen or heard from my parents for more than five years.” Shortly after the announcement, she and her grandmother would be moving to Ohio.

Burr said she had been in contact with her mother’s family for most of her life and started talking to her paternal uncle when she was 17 after he found her Facebook.

“A whole other world opened up to me,” she said in a follow-up to TikTok in 2021.

Neither side of the family had any idea what had happened to Burr’s family and most just assumed ‘they were young when they had me and my brother and they were overwhelmed and they just couldn’t take it anymore’ .

Burr, who still believed her parents were still alive, said she “forgave” her parents and just wanted to “know” them.

In a Part 5 update, she told viewers that she and her brother now both have children and have left most of their remaining family, but hoped their parents would love to meet their grandchildren.

On her search for her parents, she discovered a phone – which would eventually be disconnected – connected to a previous home address. After running into a wall, she sent a letter to the Hunts County Sheriff’s Department asking for more information.

The Hunts County Sheriff’s Department later contacted her to tell her that there was never a missing person report in Texas.

However, the lady who kept the report wanted to help Burr, so she sent birth certificates and other documents and addresses.

At an unknown time in 2021, the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) sent DNA evidence from one of her parents to CeCe Moore’s Parabon Nano Labs for testing.

In September 2022, it was revealed that the DNA was “probably Brian and Rachel Burr from Texas.”

OSBI collected relative DNA in Oklahoma and her father’s remains were linked to several of them, which Burr also linked.

Authorities later informed Burr that her mother and father (pictured) were killed by gunshot wounds. Investigators are now investigating the deaths as homicide and no suspects are currently known

In November 2022 – over a year after she initially started her quest – she shared with her fans that her parents were actually dead.

“I would always be afraid I’d get that call,” she said in a November TikTok.

On April 12 of this year, the OSBI officially identified the remains as Brian and Rachel.

Burr said she was “angry” and “mourned for hope” after learning of their deaths before the public announcement.

In the past week, Burr updated her fans again, saying they were “still trying to get information they might have missed.”

“The case has not been resolved. We have as much information as we can get from known friends and family. If there’s anyone who knew my mom, Rachel Ann Burr, and my dad, Brian Eugene Burr, and has some information, even if you think it’s insignificant, it will help,” she begged.

Detectives are still looking for the suspects.
