OJ Simpson denies Henry Ruggs’ ‘mild’ prison sentence for killing woman and her dog in drunken 155 mph fireball crash: ‘The math doesn’t add up’
OJ Simpson criticized the sentence handed down to former NFL player Henry Ruggs on Wednesday for being too lenient compared to his own prison sentence for non-violent armed robbery.
The NFL legend and ex-convict, 76, said he was surprised when Ruggs, 24, was given a three- to 10-year prison sentence despite causing the death of a 23-year-old woman after she got drunk with more than 250 mph through a Las Vegas strip in November 2021.
“The math just doesn’t add up,” said Simpson, who spent nine years behind bars after trying to steal sports memorabilia from a Las Vegas hotel room with a gun in September 2007.
“I know I went to college on a football scholarship, but somehow this math doesn’t add up for me,” he added.
In a video posted to X, the former NFL star condemned Ruggs’ three-to-nine-year sentence for being too lenient, compared to his own nine-to-33-year sentence for armed robbery in 2008

Simpson wasn’t alone in believing that Ruggs might have gotten off lightly due to his role in the November 2021 crash that killed 23-year-old Tina Tintor and her dog.
At one time, the former Las Vegas Raiders star could have spent 50 years behind bars, but reached a plea deal in May to plead guilty to one felony of drunk driving.
Hours after the verdict was read at the same courthouse where he was sentenced 14 years ago, Simpson shared his thoughts on the court proceedings with his 900,000 followers on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“You drive a car at about 160 miles per hour on a public road and end up killing a girl and her dog and you get three to ten years?” he said, pointing to Ruggs’ crime.
Compared to his own arrest for armed robbery, he said, “You go to a hotel room, to which you’ve been invited, to pick up your own personal stolen property—property that I now have because it was declared my property by the state.” labeled. from California – and you get nine to 33?’
“Same courthouse, same city, same state. Don’t know. Somehow it just doesn’t make sense to me… I’m just saying,” he finished.
Simpson’s conviction for armed robbery came exactly 13 years after he was acquitted of the murders of his ex-wife Nicole Brown and her boyfriend Ron Goldman, and some have speculated that he received a harsher sentence because of the attention paid to the infamous murders.
Simpson was later found responsible for the death by civil court and ordered to pay more than $30 million in damages.

Tina Tintor, 23, was tragically killed along with her dog Max in the crash on the Las Vegas Strip
During his sentencing on Wednesday, Ruggs stood up to apologize to the family of Tina Tintor, a 23-year-old woman who was killed when he crashed his Corvette supercar while drunk.
Ruggs was reportedly driving at 155 mph while having more than twice the legal blood alcohol limit, and a coroner ruled that Tintor burned to death in the accident.
Hours before the 3:30 a.m. horror hit, Ruggs was filmed partying and drinking at a TopGolf in Las Vegas. According to police, he left after midnight and was caught flying recklessly across the road hours later.
While racing at over 150 mph, he quickly realized he was on a collision course with Tintor’s Toyota RAV4, slamming on the brakes and crashing into her car at around 125 mph collided.
The 23-year-old and her dog Max went up in flames and Ruggs was arrested after a brief hospital stint with minor injuries.
He has been under house arrest for the past 18 months after posting $150,000 bail, where he has been placed under strict conditions, including alcohol control.
After closing the deal that saw him serve a reduced sentence, it has been posited that he could return to the NFL after serving his sentence.
If – like OJ Simpson – he is released in his first year on parole, Ruggs will only be 27 years old when he is released from prison.
In comments after he was sentenced, Ruggs said: “To Ms. Tintor’s parents and family, I offer my sincerest apologies for the pain and suffering my actions on the morning of November 2, 2021 have caused to you, your family and those who knew Mrs. “Tina and Max.”
“I have failed my family, my teammates and those who believed in me with my actions and hurt so many… I vow to be the father and the man God intended me to be.”

Ruggs (right, No. 11) was a standout college football star who was drafted by the Las Vegas Raiders in the first round of the 2020 NFL draft
Ruggs played two seasons as a wide receiver for the Las Vegas Raiders, but was released by the team on the same day as the car accident.
Growing up in Montgomery, Alabama, he saw his early career before turning pro with numerous successes, including an NCAA championship with the University of Alabama.
The standout athlete was then drafted in the first round of the 2020 NFL draft, signing a four-year contract reportedly worth more than $16 million.
Before the accident, he was one of the NFL’s hottest candidates, and records show he bought a $1.1 million home months before.
Ruggs’ girlfriend, Je’nai Kilgo-Washington, was injured in the crash. The couple have a daughter together, who was born in May 2020.
