There were 52 elementary school children on board when a Honda Odyssey ended up in the middle of the road and pinned the oncoming school bus, which swerved and ended up on its side.
The bus had no seatbelts, Tyler Ross of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said ABC news.

While 22 had non-life-threatening injuries, one student was taken to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus in serious condition.
One student was thrown from the bus during the accident and pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the bus and the Honda driver and passenger have non-life-threatening injuries.
Dayton Children’s Hospital officials said they were treating patients from the crash.
“The Greater Dayton Area Hospital Association has declared a mass casualty incident as per its protocol,” said a statement from the hospital obtained by send.
“The Dayton Children’s Emergency Department saw 22 children in this accident. Some came by ambulance, others were brought by their parents.’

“Northwestern Family, I am saddened to report that there was an injury accident this morning involving one of our buses.
“We are still collecting information and will share it with you as it becomes available.
“Currently, 41 is close to the school. We depart at the usual times.

A tow truck has arrived to lift the bus, while the police investigation into the matter continues.
