Ohio cops issue urgent warning over cryptic threatening letters: ‘Check your doorbell cameras’

Police have issued an urgent warning after several ominous handwritten letters were discovered in mailboxes around an Ohio town.

Georgetown police shared an image of a cryptic note scribbled on lined notebook paper written by the self-proclaimed “Terror of Georgetown.”

“Hey, my siege of this city has just begun,” one of the letters appears to read – although the handwriting is difficult to decipher.

“Bodies will fall, but none will be found… ask yourself, who is missing?”

The notes use an eerie mix of italics and backwards letters, and bear a donut-like symbol in the center of the page.

“We are seeking information or CCTV footage regarding cryptic letters being placed around the city and in mailboxes, some of which may be threatening,” Georgetown police said in a statement about the letters.

Police warned residents in the targeted areas – North Kenwood and Powers Avenue – to lock their doors and put away expensive items.

“We also urge everyone to remain vigilant for signs of threats, trespassers or suspicious activity,” the department said.

The first letter was delivered to the Georgetown Public Library on September 21.

Georgetown Police Chief Shaun Inlow said WHIO TV the letters say ‘something about: ‘I am the Terror of Georgetown.’ Bodies will fall.”

“And they were referring to October 1,” he added.

‘October. 1 is an important date for the Vegas shooting incident that took place I think back in 2017. So there were some concerns.”

The ominous birth occurred a few days before the Brown County Fair, but Chief Inlow said the event passed off without incident.

‘Everything went fine. Nothing happened. There was no blood, no bodies. “There are no bodies missing,” he said.

A week later, a number of more letters were found pinned to letterbox flags outside homes.

“Then we got – I think we got seven to 10 letters,” Inlow said.

The chief added that he believes an adult is behind the disturbing notes.

“At first I thought this could probably be a juvenile, but then there were some clues in the letters, like italics and things like that that might indicate an adult,” he told WHIO TV.

“So we’re kind of up in the air at that point. “Because it’s so early in the morning, it kind of rules out the possibility that it was a juvenile.”

No suspects have yet been identified.
