One person has died and two others have been injured after an industrial warehouse went up in flames.
Firefighters were called to a hydraulic engineering company on Zeta Crescent in O’Connor, south of Perth, at around 3.30pm on Saturday.
Thirteen teams worked for an hour to extinguish the fire before it was brought under control.
Western Australia Police have confirmed that one body has been found in the warehouse.
Arson detectives have been called in to investigate the cause of the fire.
Thick black smoke could be seen rising into the air. Residents were asked to stay indoors and keep all windows and doors closed.
Witness Candice Waugh told reporters she heard a loud bang before seeing smoke billowing into the air.
“We heard a huge bang and felt a shock wave, a slight vibration, through the ground,” she said.
‘It sounded like a gas explosion, we saw black smoke coming from the door.’
