George Clooney warned Barack Obama about his New York Times op-ed demanding that Joe Biden drop out of the presidential race. The former president did nothing to stop him, a shocking new report released Thursday found.

While Obama did not encourage or advise Clooney, he also did not object, sources said. Politics.

Clooney’s demand sent shockwaves through the Democratic Party, and the news that Obama knew about it has fueled speculation that he is secretly trying to dethrone Biden as the nominee, despite the fact that he publicly defended the president after his dismal performance at the debate.

“The Biden campaign and many Democratic officials believe that Barack Obama is quietly working behind the scenes to orchestrate this,” MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough, who has frequent contact with the campaign, said Thursday of Clooney’s op-ed.

Neither Obama’s office nor Clooney’s representative immediately responded to DailyMail.com’s request for comment.

Obama and Clooney are close, having worked together on issues in Africa when Obama was president. Clooney was a frequent visitor to the White House during that time.

The former president also attended Clooney’s record-breaking $28 million fundraiser for Biden on June 16.

Clooney referenced that night in his op-ed.

“I love Joe Biden. As a senator. As vice president and as president. I consider him a friend and I believe in him. Believe in his character. Believe in his morals. Over the last four years, he has won many of the battles he has fought,” Clooney wrote.

“But the one battle he cannot win is the battle against time. None of us can do that. It’s horrible to say, but the Joe Biden I was with at the fundraiser three weeks ago was not the Joe ‘big F-ing deal’ Biden of 2010. He wasn’t even the Joe Biden of 2020. He was the same guy we all saw at the debate,” he said.

The fundraiser was overshadowed by questions about the president’s health after video emerged showing Obama having to escort Biden off the stage.

The White House called the video fake. Officials also noted that the fundraiser took place the day after Biden returned from attending the G7 summit in Italy.

But it now takes on a new light after Biden’s performance during the debate, during which he at times struggled for words and stared blankly into the camera.

Obama and Clooney grew closer after Obama left the presidency. And in his final year in office, Obama discouraged Biden from running for president so that Hillary Clinton would have a clearer path to the nomination in 2016.

Clooney said The Hollywood Reporter in 2017 that he and Obama texted frequently. The actor said the two shared teasing disagreements and even a few risqué jokes.

Both men are avid basketball players and played basketball together when Obama stayed at Clooney’s home in England.

Obama is not the only high-profile Democrat working behind the scenes. Concerns are mounting about Biden’s mental fitness to be president.

Former Speaker Nancy Pelosi is doing some manipulating.

Pelosi suggested Wednesday that Biden reconsider his position on retaining the Democratic presidential nominee.

“It’s up to the president to decide whether or not to run. We all encourage him to make that decision. Because time is running out,” she said on Morning Joe.

Her comments were intended as a signal to Democratic members to voice their concerns about Biden.

There is growing fear among Democrats that Biden will not only lose in November, but that he will drag Democratic lawmakers down with him.

If the Republicans win the White House, the Senate and the House of Representatives, Donald Trump will have no control over his presidential power.

And Pelosi went public because lawmakers came to her with their concerns.

“That’s why some of us go to Pelosi … she’s a tough cookie, she’ll tell you like it is,” one House Democrat told Axios.

At least 10 Democratic lawmakers have publicly called on Biden to withdraw from the fight.
