Oaks Day 2023: Purple reign! Princess Diana’s nieces Eliza and Amelia Spencer wear incredible amethyst jewels while Kate Waterhouse steals the show in a sheer lace gown
It was a very royal affair at Flemington Racecourse on Thursday as celebrities donned their finest jewels to celebrate Kennedy Oaks Day 2023.
This year, racegoers were encouraged to wear a shade of purple as part of their race day outfit, to raise awareness for the Good Friday appeal in their quest to help sick children.
Fresh from their matching Melbourne Cup ensembles, Princess Diana’s two nieces Eliza and Amelia Spencer stole the show as they arrived at The Birdcage in matching white outfits and extravagant, draped amethyst necklaces and headpieces.
The statuesque sisters posed for photos side by side, with Amelia dazzling in a puff-sleeved trouser suit, silver pointed heels and a matching clutch.
Eliza, meanwhile, wore a white jumpsuit with an asymmetrical bodice.

Racing identity Kate Waterhouse joined the pair at The Birdcage, looking ethereal in a white lace Zimmermann dress paired with a Dior clutch worth approximately $2,000.
She swept her hair back into an updo, secured with a white hair bow from EZARA/J, and added height to her lithe frame with a pair of black open-toed heels.
For makeup, the daughter of horse trainer Gai Waterhouse and bookmaker Robbie Waterhouse wore winged eyeliner, peach blush and a hint of red lipstick.
