OJ Simpson could hardly get more controversial, but the former NFL player went above and beyond while joking about Aaron Rodgers’ injury on September 11.

The Jets quarterback lasted just four plays before tearing his Achilles tendon while being sacked by Bills pass rusher Leonard Floyd.

The 39-year-old quarterback has since been ruled out for the entire 2023 NFL season.

“The Jets are still going to be good,” Simpson said on It Is What It Is. “They got that defense — and that kid learned a lot from Aaron.

“Unfortunately, September 11 is just a bad date for New York,” he said amid rousing laughter from the two male co-hosts, Cam’ron and Mase.

Simpson blamed a lack of physical contact and activity both in preseason and offseason

“You have to play,” he said. ‘That’s the problem when you don’t play at all before you go on the field.

‘That wasn’t a bad tackle. You have to loosen your body, you have to get some contact.”

Simpson was once a beloved American figure during and after his successes as a football player for the University of South Carolina and later for the Buffalo Bills, until a criminal trial and controversial acquittal for the 1994 murders of his ex-wife and her boyfriend.

Simpson was later found responsible for the deaths in civil court and ordered to pay more than $30 million in damages.

He was convicted of armed robbery exactly thirteen years after he was acquitted of the murders, serving nine years behind bars.
