NYT Strands Today (Game #311) – The Answers
The answers to today’s Strands, game #311, are…
- OVEN
- WASH BOX
- ISLAND
- BACK PLATE
- ATTACH
- SPANGRAM: KITCHEN RENOVATION
- My rating: Simple
- My score: 1 tip
In a previous career I had to interview people about their kitchens. Usually it was celebrities who got a discount on a fancy new ISLAND, SPLASHBACK, etc., and in return they had to talk about their KITCHEN RENEWAL with someone from a home design magazine.
It was a terrible situation. I had no interest in kitchens, they had no interest in talking about kitchens, but they made a pact and somehow we got through it. After discussing all possible angles on what they liked about their new kitchens, we moved on to topics that I hoped would add some color to the finished article – a humorous anecdote about burnt meal, a strange smell that took years to to identify it, a leaky tap, everything – but after a while I gave up.
Luckily, no one really cared about the words in these articles, it was all about the photos – which always made them look like kitchens in heaven would look: perfect, shiny and untouched by anyone interested in cooking.
How did you do today? Send me an email and let me know.
