NYT Strands Today (Game #42) – The Answers
The answers to today’s Strands, game #42, are…
- BACON
- MAYONNAISE
- TOMATO
- SALAD
- PICKLE
- TURKEY
- SPANGRAM: SANDWICH
- My score: Moderate
- My score: Perfect
Sandwiches are objectively the best food, so this one should have been right up my alley. Unfortunately, I’ve never had a club sandwich before, so found it a little more difficult than some people might have. Why? Well, the fact that I’m a vegetarian is probably the main reason, but I might add that a) mayonnaise is the devil’s spice, b) the best sandwiches are simple and not filled with unnecessary ingredients. Give me mature cheddar with salted butter and freshly baked bread and I’ll be in heaven.
Anyway, for that reason I found it difficult to discover all the words until MAYONNAISE gave the board some structure, at which point it was easier to find the remaining answers. Even then, it took me a while to see PICKLE; Why would you put pickles in a sandwich that already has all that in it? Insanity.
How did you do today? Send me an email and let me know.
