The answers to today’s Strands, game #55, are…

  • QUEEN
  • DOCTOR
  • ADMIRAL
  • Respect
  • PROFESSOR
  • SENATOR
  • SPANGRAM: TITLES

  • My score: Simple
  • My score: Perfect

The theme clue of “Call Me?” was a bit opaque today, but other than that this was a relatively simple Strands puzzle to end the work week with (at least for those of us who work Monday to Friday). It’s one of those games where finding the first answer might have been enough to identify the overall theme, and where finding one answer was very easy.

That’s because it has a Q in it – and Q words are generally easy to solve. For example, you know that there will definitely be a U after it, and that reduces the number of directions in which the word can develop. Discovering QUEEN today was a breeze – and along with the clue gave me the information I needed to search for (and find) people like DOCTOR and PROFESSOR. A few took a little more effort (I’m looking at you, Senator and Admiral), but overall this wasn’t too bad.
