A man slapped an 80-year-old pedestrian multiple times in a random attack on a Manhattan subway prompting the octogenarian to fall to the ground, officials said. 

The random attack took place on Saturday around 4:30 p.m. as the woman, whose name was not released, was traveling aboard the northbound 6 train at the 68th Street-Hunter College station.

During the unprovoked attack, the unidentified male approached the woman and began slapping her multiple times on her head, back and shoulder causing her to fall to the ground, an NYPD spokesperson told DailyMail.com on Tuesday.

As the stranger was hitting the woman the man did not utter a word, officials said. 

The NYPD is now asking the public for any help in locating the thug, described as a male, approximately 40 to 45 years of age, 6’2″ tall, and 170lbs. who attacked an elderly woman on the subway platform on Saturday afternoon around 4:30 p.m.

He was last seen wearing a black shirt, black and red leather jacket, baggy jeans, red and black sneakers and carrying a large paper bag

The unprovoked attack happened on the northbound 6 train on Saturday afternoon. The woman who was slapped numerous time and fell to the ground refused medical care 

When the Upper East Side train stopped at the 59th Street stop, the suspect fled to ‘parts unknown,’ the police said.

The woman refused medical attention at the scene. 

The NYPD is now asking the public for any help in locating the thug, described as a male, approximately 40 to 45 years of age, 6’2″ tall, and 170lbs.
