Nvidia RTX 5050 was missing from action at CES 2025 – but the budget GPU could have just been spotted in a surprise laptop
- Marketing material from LG Gram shows the laptop with an RTX 5050 GPU
- However, the rest of the promo text points to an RTX 4050 graphics card
- This suggests that Nvidia has delayed the RTX 5050, but it’s probably not that far off
Nvidia recently unveiled its new Blackwell laptop GPUs alongside RTX 5000 desktop graphics cards at CES 2025, but we just saw a bottom-tier mobile card that wasn’t aired at the show.
You may recall that past rumors claimed that Nvidia would unveil the full suite of RTX 5000 laptop GPUs at CES, from the RTX 5050 to the RTX 5090, but we only got RTX 5070 models and above – the RTX 5060 and 5050 were nowhere. be seen.
In the latter case, however, promotional material for the 2025 LG Gram shows the laptop equipped with an RTX 5050 GPU – while the specs provided confusingly refer to an RTX 4050 model.

What theoretically could have happened – add some spice – is that LG planned the RTX 5050 for the launch of this notebook, but Nvidia postponed the GPU. So LG switched to the RTX 4050 instead, but someone made a mistake and left the RTX 5050 name in, from the looks of it.
Analysis: A delayed Nvidia RTX 5050?
This theory seems plausible enough considering that we heard more than one rumor out of the blue that Nvidia would show off the RTX 5050 to 5090 mobile GPUs at CES 2024. Which would also mirror what happened at the Lovelace notebook launch, where the RTX 4050 and above were all revealed.
As a result, it seems likely that the RTX 5050 will hit the market in the future, the question is: how long will we have to wait? To some extent, that’s anyone’s guess, but if this supposed GPU was indeed sidelined by Nvidia late in the game, right before CES 2025, there must be a good reason for it. So don’t expect to see the RTX 5050 anytime soon, but I would be surprised if we have to wait that long for this mobile graphics card to appear.
Outside of LG’s Gram notebook, the RTX 5050 (and RTX 5060) will allow cheaper gaming laptops to be upgraded with next-generation GPUs, and that includes the use of DLSS 4, which will help boost frame rates for on- to speed up usage. -go gaming.
In theory, the RTX 5050 will run with 8GB of VRAM, which would be a solid allocation for this level of GPU – as it will match not only the RTX 5060 (in theory), but also the RTX 5070, which we know he who has. controversially stuck with 8GB of video RAM (perhaps why Blackwell’s mobile side at the recent CES was a rather low-key affair).
However, Nvidia has neural shader tricks up its sleeve for textures that, like DLSS 4, the company says will make a huge difference for RTX 5000 graphics cards.
