Nvidia RTX 5000 prediction suggests RTX 5090 will be a monster flagship GPU… but it’s the RTX 5070 I’m worried about
- The expectation for Nvidia RTX 5090 is an increase of 60% to 70% from generation to generation
- RTX 5070 may be far behind at 20% to 30% faster than 4070
- With RTX 5080 landing in between at 30% to 40% faster than 4080
Nvidia’s RTX 5000 GPUs are just around the corner – Team Green has now officially teased new GeForce graphics cards for CES 2025 – and we’ve just heard some more rumors about the potential performance levels these Blackwell products could reach.
This is a rumor you should load up on, because as the source – regular leaker on X, OneRaichu – points out, these are just their expectations.
In the after which was marked by Digital trendsOneRaichu believes that the flagship (RTX 5090) will be 60% to 70% faster for the GPU generation improvement.
The prediction is that high-level Blackwell GPUs – meaning the RTX 5080 – will be 30% to 40% faster, and for the mid-range that drops to 20% to 30% faster than Nvidia’s. previous graphics cards. In the latter case, we’re assuming this refers to the RTX 5070 – and perhaps to a lesser extent the RTX 5060, although this GPU is likely to be a lot further away given the lack of rumored specs (and any performance predictions) out there . It.
Analysis: Great news for PC enthusiasts, in theory – not so much for the mainstream
As noted, these are just expectations, but these expectations are obviously built on a foundation of leaks that OneRaichu has been hearing for a while.
What’s interesting is that regarding the RTX 5090, we’ve heard in previous rumors that the next-gen flagship is 50% to 70% faster than the RTX 4090. So this leaker’s claim is that it will be heading towards the top of those previous estimates, a hint – taken with a lot of skepticism – that this is going to be a mighty graphics card from Nvidia. Probably with an equally large price tag (as if you ‘might’ not be able to afford it unless you take out a second mortgage).
On the other hand, the RTX 5070 may be a much more modest generation-over-gen improvement, which is disappointing for me – and for any mainstream gamers with more typical gaming PC budgets – and this also fits with some of the rumors that we I heard about that graphics card. (Particularly the supposed 12GB VRAM which, even though it’s much snappier GDDR7, could be a real sticking point for many).
In any case, we won’t have to wait long to find out how accurate this prediction – and the other speculation from the grapevine – will be, as Nvidia will almost certainly unveil RTX 5000 graphics cards at CES 2025, given that new teaser. (And the fact that the new Witcher 4 trailer also used an unannounced RTX GPU, probably the 5090).
