Nvidia RTX 4060 and 4050 GPUs spotted – but don’t get your hopes up too much
>
Nvidia’s RTX 4060 and 4050 desktop graphics cards – the Lovelace GPUs of most interest to most people given their (hopefully) affordable nature – could arrive sooner than expected.
Tom’s hardware (opens in new tab) saw that RTX 4060 and 4050 models from Shangke Group – a Chinese company that makes graphics cards and other components – have been filed with the EEC (Eurasian Economic Commission).
Typically, products are submitted to the EEC as their release approaches, so this is a hint that the RTX 4060 and 4050 may be closer to launch than the rumor mill has otherwise indicated.
On the other hand, we have to be very careful about assuming too much of EEG filings, as they can be done early in some cases, or they can even be done speculatively for placeholder products.
In short, don’t set at great importance attached to these lists, but they are nevertheless a tantalizing hint that we could see the RTX 4060 and 4050 desktop graphics cards popping up in the near future (or indeed we’d settle for one of these GPUs being pushed soon ).
Analysis: Reasons to doubt
The case against the appearance of the RTX 4060 and 4050 is largely based on the lack of chatter about these models on the GPU vine so far (when product development continues, there are generally leaks and rumors).
That said, we’ve actually been hearing a bit more about the RTX 4060 Ti lately – quite a bit, actually, although it’s not the news many want to hear in terms of how powerful this GPU could be. But as for the vanilla RTX 4060, most of the speculation has been about how long we might have to wait for this graphics card – as possibly mid-2023.
Additionally, we have to keep in mind that Nvidia still has stock of the RTX 3000 series to resell (or its partners do), and so any mid-range release will have to wait until the inventory of GPUs like the RTX 3060 has increased significantly. is reduced.
Other than that, we’ve heard next to nothing about the RTX 4050, other than news about the laptop’s GPU. Sure, both the RTX 4050 and 4060 laptop versions have been unveiled and are about to go on sale in portable devices, but those mobile graphics cards are very different cauldrons of fish than the desktop variants.
In short, we don’t believe the RTX 4060 and 4050 are imminent by any means, but we’re certainly happy enough to take this as a preliminary signal that perhaps at least one of these cards – the RTX 4060, most likely – will maybe go up in a few months (and maybe the 4060 Ti too). If we’re lucky. And indeed, a lot may depend on how the GPU market in general fares when it comes to getting rid of that RTX 3000 stock, regardless of what Nvidia has currently planned and told its manufacturing partners to expect.
