Nvidia could have a big surprise for CES 2024 with rumored trio of new RTX Super graphics cards
Nvidia is apparently planning a ‘special address’ for us when CES 2024 rolls into the city of Las Vegas, leading to much speculation that this will be the unveiling of new Lovelace graphics cards.
VideoCardz has highlighted the event ahead of its official unveiling (the linked webpage still relates to the CES 2023 event, but will likely be changed soon – although spices are being added as always).
It will take place on January 8, the day before CES 2024 officially starts (but of course there are always announcements leading up to the event).
Before we get too carried away, this isn’t specifically labeled as a GeForce event. But there’s good reason to believe this will mark the unveiling of a number of Super refreshes for RTX 4000 graphics cards (three of them, if the rumors are true).
Let’s see what these reasons are next…
Analysis: Reasons to be hopeful
First of all, these won’t be heavy duty graphics cards, or anything business or anything like that, because CES is a consumer show (it’s literally the Consumer Electronics Show), and therefore GeForce products will definitely be the main attractions.
Secondly, since CES is a big thing, it should be quite a revelation – a trio of new RTX 4070 and 4080 Super models certainly fit the bill. And remember: at CES 2023 we saw the launch of the RTX 4070 Ti (and laptop GPUs) at a similar event dubbed a “special address” (so this wasn’t labeled as a GeForce announcement either, even though it was very much).
And what’s more, a recent rumor suggested exactly this: a CES 2024 launch for the RTX 4080 Super, 4070 Ti Super, and 4070 Super. That’s on top of a series of recent leaks about these graphics cards, with the amount of information spilled always indicating that a launch is near (we’ve even caught an alleged glimpse of the RTX 4070 Ti Super logo).
Mind you, a launch is one thing, and sales dates are another. It remains to be seen if Nvidia really has three new Super refreshes in store, and even if so, where they’ll be pitched in terms of specs, and when they might go on sale. In general, we would expect a staggered release on shelves for three new products.
In the meantime, we can keep an eye on the rumors that should continue to circulate as these contenders for our list of the best graphics cards are imminent – and it’s likely that Team Green will confirm the event and launch some teasers soon as well .
A launch on the horizon also seems like a good bet, as Nvidia really needs to address the poor sales of the RTX 4080 thus far (and the RTX 4080 Super could even effectively replace that model, or that’s certainly a theory).
