A former nurse shares why quitting her job as a healthcare worker and buying a laundromat was the best decision she ever made, saying it helped her triple her income.
Cami, who comes by @Laundromatgirl on TikTok, worked as a bone marrow transplant nurse for 13 years.
Although the beautiful brunette – who did not want to give her last name for privacy reasons – loved her job, she was still exhausted by the gruelling hours, working 12-hour shifts, leaving at 5am and not returning until 8pm.
To improve her mental health and sleep patterns, Cami decided to quit her job as a nurse and bought a laundromat.
Now the content creator and laundry professional has admitted it’s the best thing she could have done and has ‘tripled’ her income while only working ’10 to 15 hours a week’.
A former nurse has revealed why quitting her job as a healthcare worker and buying a laundromat was the best decision she ever made, adding that it helped her triple her income.
Since quitting her job as a nurse, Cami has been posting about her life as a laundromat owner on TikTok, where she now has over 94,000 followers.
In the years leading up to the pandemic, the content creator had questioned her career as a nurse, explaining that she couldnât imagine doing it later in life because of the stress it puts on your body.
In 2020, she decided to look for a new career opportunity and started looking for a company to buy.
Cami first looked at mobile homes before deciding to invest in a laundromat.
She sold her house and invested $200,000 in a laundromat, then turned it into her dream business, she revealed on TikTok.
After quitting her job as a nurse, she was able to fully focus on her new business.
In a viral TikTok video that has so far been viewed more than 1.1 million times, she said: “I know it sounds crazy, but trust me, it was the best decision I ever made.”
She admitted that while she enjoyed her career as a nurse, it was also âreally hardâ at times.

âWhen I first walked into my laundromat, I immediately saw the value I could add to this place, so a few days later we had a contract,â she explained.
“I’ve owned my laundromat for about four years now.”
She said that after three years as an entrepreneur, she quit her job as a nurse.
Cami indicated that she made âthe right decisionâ as her business was still doing well.
âI go to the laundromat about twice a week and only work 10 to 15 hours a week, so it was definitely worth taking that huge risk almost four years ago,â she stressed.
Speaking with NewsweekCami admitted she was making three times as much as she did when she was a nurse, saying some months she was making up to $25,000.
She told the outlet, “Take a chance on yourself. I took a big chance on myself when I bought my laundromat, when I started pickup and delivery, and when I started my TikTok.
“If I hadn’t taken the first step of buying my laundromat, I’d still be working as a nurse doing the same thing over and over again. Bet on yourself, because you’d be surprised where it could lead.”
