A young nurse who is constantly questioned about suspicious looking bruises has revealed exactly why she is black and blue at the end of each day.
Francesca O’Grady, 22, said elderly dementia patients are to blame.
“They know how to leave a mark,” he joked.
And other nurses agreed that they had been left bruised and bruised after a long shift in the dementia ward.
“Love them to death, but my God, they are ready to fight every second of the day,” agreed one nurse.

Others shared details of ‘fights’ they had with their own patients.
“A 98-year-old lady hit me on the head with a remote control and made my head bleed because I took her to the bathroom because she asked me to,” one woman complained.
“I got punched in the eye last night,” said another.
“I got kicked in the face right before I saw this,” another laughed.
“I have had patients dig and scratch me with their nails. However, I manage to back away and avoid the blows most of the time,” added another nurse.
Others said they had friends concerned about domestic violence after starting out in elder care.
‘They asked me if everything was fine at home, at home yes. No work,’ said a woman.
The conversation, which was held in a TikTok video, then turned to why all elderly patients seem to have “superhuman strength.”
“The strength they gain from being in a constant state of fight or flight is unmatched,” said one woman.
“They no longer have the mental barrier, that thing that prevents you from eating your own finger, it’s gone,” said another.
“In fact, I work with dementia patients and they are all very strong,” agreed a third.
Others joked that getting to work was like going to fight club.
And it’s not just nurses who ‘get it’.
One woman explained that she had to sit her confused grandmother down and beg her not to hit the nurses anymore.
The nurse often posts videos talking about her time on the job and has built a huge following.
‘Grandma, you can’t just punch people in the face,’ he laughed.
The relatives of the nurses also intervened.
‘My mom came home one day with a black eye. one of her ladies got scared of her and hit her in the face with the thing they use to get out of bed,’ she said.
