Roosters star Angus Crichton has confirmed his romance with girlfriend Chloe Esegbona after he was pictured kissing her goodbye before Wednesday night’s State of Origin.
Crichton, 28, played well for the Blues against the Maroons in the opening series of the 2024 Origin series despite losing 38-10 in Game I.
From the second minute onwards Joseph Sua’ali’i was sent off for squashing Reece Walsh in the opening minutes of the match, the Roosters star and his teammates were doomed to lose.
Crichton moved to left center after the send-off and did his best to close the gap, missing a number of big tackles but also running hard in difficult conditions.

Crichton had previously shared photos of the pair on social media, but it was not known if they were dating
Not much is known about Crichton’s new girlfriend, Chloe Esebona, who he said goodbye to outside the Pullman Hotel on Wednesday afternoon.
He recently shared off-season photos from his travels around the world, including photos of Chloe, but whether they were in a relationship or just friends was previously unclear.
Crichton split from his Olympian girlfriend Morgan Mitchell in 2022 before dealing with mental health issues in 2023 that meant a lengthy spell away from footy.
Just before the start of the 2024 NRL season, Crichton opened up about his time in a French mental health facility in late 2022 and his ongoing struggles with mental health upon returning home.
There was speculation that Crichton had seriously damaged his brain by using magic mushrooms abroad, but he dismissed these rumors as false without denying his use of the substance.
While in France, Crichton was medicated and underwent treatment in mental health facilities. His parents came to visit and quickly arranged his return to Australia.
‘I was just manic. I didn’t sleep. I wasn’t thinking clearly and making good decisions. No one got hurt, no one got injured, but I was super energetic and very different from my normal self,” he said.

In a recent social media post, Crichton noted how tough the last period of his life was.
“A little late, but 2023 has tested me, I’ve been through everything,” he wrote on the post with photos of him and Esegbona.
‘I’m glad I have the friends and family who can pick me up when I need it.
“Thank you to everyone who has shown me love or stood by me, whether I know you or not, I appreciate it.
‘Ready to make 2024 great.’
