NSW Police evacuate University of Sydney in dramatic bomb alert as public are warned to stay away
A major police operation is underway at the University of Sydney, with students evacuated from buildings on Friday afternoon amid fears of a bomb threat.
USYD student newspaper Honi Soit reported the incident on social media, writing: ‘Honi Soit has received allegations of a threat on Camperdown Campus.
‘The police have arrived. Fisher Library, Abercrombie and the New Law Building were evacuated within the last hour.”
NSW Police confirmed an exclusion zone had been established, adding: ‘A police operation is underway at a university campus on City Road, Camperdown.

“An exclusion zone has been established and the community is urged to avoid the area. There is no further information at this time.”
A University of Sydney spokesperson said staff at student newspaper Honi Soit “immediately contacted police” as soon as we became aware of a threat made.
