  • Shocking turn in her career

A police officer who was praised for her brutal response to an arrested, argumentative man has been suspended without pay for an unrelated case.

The officer stopped the criminal when they refused to leave quietly after he was pushed into a police car in Cessnock, in the Hunter Valley of New South Wales in February 2022.

Footage shows the officer telling the man to “stop being angry”, and her bold response has earned her praise from Australians across the country.

The video has since resurfaced and gone viral, with over 253,000 views and nearly 500 comments on one Instagram account in the past two days.

A New South Wales Police spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia on Sunday that the officer was reminded of her “professional responsibilities” at the time.

It has since emerged that she was suspended without pay for a matter unrelated to the foul-mouthed incident.

The 31-year-old man was arrested on an outstanding warrant for property crimes.

Footage showed the man shouting in the back of the police car.

The sober officer stood next to a police car and silenced the difficult detainee

“Do what you have to do,” he said, apparently inviting the officer to taser him.

“I’m not going to Taser you. (But) you’re the one who stole s***. You’re the one with the warrant. You’re the one in the dog crate,” she replied.

“Yeah? Whoop-de-f***ing-do,” the man shouted.

The officer quickly interrupted him, clearly fed up.

“Whoop-de-do? Don’t be so scared,” she snapped.

The man appeared to be making a comment about the officer’s ability to do her job.

“At least I have a job,” she said.

The arrested man mumbled something back, prompting her to continue her brutal slaughter.

“Steal what? Is that your job?” she said.

The images were taken by a local resident.

Social media users were quick to praise the officer on duty for her “good jokes.”

“She’s just telling the hard truth, that’s what he needs,” one person wrote.

“If more people were confronted with the realities of life, maybe they wouldn’t have to be arrested,” said another.

One viewer was able to empathize with the officer’s demanding daily work.

“I can’t stand it when professionals are expected to tiptoe around the truth with people who don’t want to help themselves. She told him straight up,” he wrote.

“Most Australian cops are pretty laid back and cool… in my experience anyway,” said another.

A number of commenters simply said, “Well done.”

A New South Wales Police spokesperson said the arrested man appeared in Cessnock District Court on March 23, 2022.

‘The case has now been settled by the court.’
