A shocking mugshot photo has emerged showing the severity of the injuries former Comanchero bikie boss Tarek Zahed suffered in an assassination attempt 11 months ago.

Despite 10 gunshot wounds to his head and body, 42-year-old Zahed miraculously survived the gangland hit at the BodyFit gym in the Sydney suburb of Auburn in May 2022.

It was then reported that a bullet went straight through his eye during the shooting that killed his brother Omar, 39.

A shocking mugshot photo has surfaced showing the severity of the injuries former Comanchero bikie boss Tarek Zahed (pictured) suffered in an assassination attempt 11 months ago

Four months after being shot, Zahed (pictured on the ground) was arrested in Sydney’s eastern suburbs and charged with a 2014 gangland murder

In the mugshot photo, half of Zahed’s head and his nose are covered in bandages, but under his glasses, his left eye stares at the camera while his right eye is missing.

Doctors were stunned at his recovery from the shooting spent months in the hospital, but there was nothing they could do to save his eye, which had been destroyed by the bullet.

On August 28 last year, four months after he was shot, Zahed was arrested in Sydney’s eastern suburbs and charged with a 2014 gangland murder.

This mugshot was taken on the day of the arrest, as crime scene photos showed Zahed, handcuffed, sitting with his head wrapped in a bandage.

Before Zahed’s arrest, bean bag pellets were reportedly fired through the rear passenger window of a black BMW.

He is charged with the murder of 29-year-old Youssef Assoum in Yagoona in western Sydney in December 2014.

But prosecutors admitted this month that they don’t have enough evidence for a trial on the Assoum case Daily telegram reported.

They have been given three weeks to solidify their case against Zahed.

Zahed resurfaced in public in late August 2022 in a social media photo shared by Comanchero gang president Allan Meehan (second from left)

Days before his arrest, Zahed was seen dining with Comanchero president Allan Meehan and other associates dressed in designer clothes and jewelry.

Despite being shot 10 times, Zahed had no visible scars on his face in a photo taken that night.

However, he wore dark sunglasses so that his eyes could not be seen.

Meehan captioned the photo: “Welcome back Tarek “hard2kill” Zahed.”
