Mudgee crash at Aarons Pass: Woman killed and two children are among five people injured in horror crash between SUV and ute in central west NSW
A woman has died and five other people – including two young children – were injured in a horrific crash that blocked a major highway in central west NSW.
Emergency services were called to the scene at Aarons Pass, south of Mudgee, about 2pm on Friday after a southbound ute and a northbound SUV collided in the northbound carriageway.
Four people were in the SUV and two were in the car.
A woman, 32, who was a front seat passenger in the SUV, was seriously injured and taken to Mudgee Hospital for treatment.

The driver of the ute, aged 54, was taken to Mudgee Hospital (pictured, Mudgee) for mandatory tests with minor injuries.
She died a short time later, NSW Police confirmed in a statement.
The 34-year-old male driver of the SUV and the front passenger in the car, a 68-year-old man, were flown to Westmead Hospital with serious injuries.
Two girls, aged two and six, who were passengers in the back seat of the SUV, were taken to Westmead Children’s Hospital.
A NSW Police spokesperson said both were in a stable condition.
The driver of the ute, aged 54, was taken to Mudgee Hospital with minor injuries and for mandatory tests.
A crime scene has been cordoned off and an investigation into the circumstances leading to the crash is ongoing.
