NSW government media advisor Farah Abdurahman under investigation for appearing to defend Hamas terror attacks in lengthy LinkedIn post: ‘Justice will be had’

EXCLUSIVE

A NSW government employee is under investigation over a LinkedIn rant that appeared to defend Hamas terrorism and accuse Israel of genocide.

Farah Abdurahman, a contractor who works as a senior media adviser for the NSW Department of Communities and Justice, posted a lengthy criticism of the Israeli government on Wednesday in the wake of the Gaza hospital bombing that claimed the lives of nearly 500 people.

Hamas blamed the Israeli army for the attack, but Israel said it was the result of an attack failed rocket launch by Palestinian Islamic Jihad – a claim that US President Joe Biden also supports.

But Ms Abdurahman appeared to be in no doubt who was behind the deadly attack, in a lengthy LinkedIn post in which she pointed the finger at Israel.

“This morning the Gaza hospital was bombed in what can only be described as a deliberate attack on civilians,” Ms. Abdurahman wrote.

‘To say I’m triggered is an understatement.

“I have sat in utter despair and disbelief as not only our own government, but every Western democratic country on this planet, has stood idly by while the political Zionist movement in Israel committed genocide.”

Ms Abdurahman, who previously worked as a news reporter for the now defunct channel Television Sydney and who describes herself as a “human rights activist”, then questioned widely reported claims that Hamas terrorists had raped women and beheaded babies.

‘First, if Islam has clear rules in our book of faith regarding war that forbids the desecration of a body, and further, if consensual sex outside of marriage is punishable by whipping or stoning to death, why and how could this alleged rape then took place?’ she asked.

The media adviser called on people to “put their foot on the neck of the Zionist movement that is causing these atrocities.”

She also called on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to “end the occupation” and demanded that he be “tried for war crimes.”

“If you strangle a people under the most damaging restrictions of apartheid for 75 years and expect them to remain passive, you are mistaken,” she wrote in defense of Hamas’s attacks on Israel, which have killed nearly 1,500 people , including babies.

“Justice will be done.”

The Australian Jewish Association shared screenshots of Ms Abdurahman’s now-deleted post.

“If confirmed, this nasty piece of work should be dismissed immediately and the recruitment policies of the NSW government departments investigated,” the association wrote.

A spokesperson for the Department of Communities and Justice told Daily Mail Australia they expect a ‘high standard of behavior from staff’.

‘This also applies to employees’ activities on social media.

“DCJ Secretary Michael Tidball is reviewing a social media post made by a contractor regarding the situation in Israel and Gaza in light of the Department’s social media and employment policies.”

In the wake of the commotion, Ms Abdurahman deleted the post and removed her surname and profile photo from her LinkedIn account.

She has now added a disclaimer: ‘All views expressed are explicitly my own and do not represent the views of any organizations with which I may be affiliated.’

Daily Mail Australia contacted Ms Abdurahman for comment.
