Cop is charged after allegedly assaulting three girls and a woman at a busy shopping centre

A police officer has been charged after allegedly attacking a woman and three teenagers at a shopping center on the NSW south coast.

Police attended an incident at Batemans Bay shopping center on October 29 in which the senior officer allegedly assaulted the three teenage girls.

The girls were aged 13 and 17 and the lead officer is also said to have attacked a 49-year-old woman in the centre.

After an investigation, the police issued a report to the 37-year-old officer on Thursday.

He was charged with four counts of common assault and will appear in Batemans Bay Local Court on November 25.

In a statement, NSW Police said the officer was attached to the Southern Command and has been suspended without pay.
